Overview

Job Title: Heavy Equipment Operator

As a Scraper Operator, you will be responsible for cutting to grade by driving across the earth and scraping it into a holding bowl for removal or relocation. You will work in the cut, managing fill to level the terrain, allowing Finish Dozer operators to fine grade the area to completion. Your work hours are from 6am to 6pm, Monday through Friday, with potential for Saturday work and extended hours up to 14-hour days depending on workload and weather conditions. You must perform pre-inspection and end-of-day inspections on your machine and report any issues to management.

Responsibilities

• Operate MTS 3630 wheeled or track scrapers and other heavy equipment.
• Perform rough grading work on commercial job sites.
• Conduct pre-inspection and end-of-day inspection of equipment.
• Report any equipment concerns to management.
• Ensure safety and communication protocols are followed on site.

Essential Skills

• 3+ years of experience operating scrapers on commercial job sites with mass grading.
• Experience with MTS 745 with pan CAT 627 or CAT 637.
• Ability to operate heavy equipment in rough conditions.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to be insured for operating company vehicles.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience with paddle wheel operations is a unique and valuable skill.
• Familiarity with civil and commercial construction sites.
• Understanding of grading, earthwork, and earthmoving processes.

Compensation and Benefits

Pay range: $28.00/hr. Eligible employees may receive a per diem of $830 per week and 54 cents per mile reimbursement for travel. Benefits may include medical, dental & vision; life insurance; 401(k) with pre-tax and Roth options; disability coverage; HSA; transportation benefits; EAP; and PTO/vacation or sick leave, subject to eligibility and plan terms.

Work Environment

The work environment is a civil construction site on what was formerly farmland, requiring adherence to strict OSHA safety protocols. The site is active and requires constant communication and awareness. A professional appearance and behavior in line with the Site Code of Conduct are mandatory.
