As a Senior Electrical Engineer, you will contribute to electrical design for water and wastewater facilities, pump stations, and greenfield projects with minimum supervision, collaborating with project managers and a multidisciplinary team to deliver quality work on schedule and within budget. What you’ll do
Prepare and manage detailed electrical power systems design for water and wastewater treatment facilities, pump stations, and related projects. Develop One-Line Diagrams, Motor Control Diagrams, Panelboard Schedules, Conduit Routing, Load Calculations, and Voltage Drop Calculations. Coordinate with electric utility companies for new services as needed. Write and edit electrical specifications; select equipment, electrical systems and devices. Review submittals, RFIs, change orders, and prepare record drawings during construction; conduct site visits and inspections; participate in start-up activities. Contribute to electrical safety in design and conduct arc flash analyses and other electrical studies for clients. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across multiple office locations; mentor junior staff and lead teams as appropriate. Support quality control and quality assurance of electrical plans, specifications, and estimates in the water market. Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or a related field. Registered Professional Engineer (P.E.) in Colorado. 12+ years of electrical engineering experience in the water/wastewater industry with municipal project delivery (design-bid-build, design-build, or other methods). Experience delivering design reports, technical memoranda, drawings, and specifications for power distribution with calculations for short circuit, voltage drop, load flow, coordination, arc flash, harmonics, and equipment sizing. Experience designing low- and medium-voltage power distribution, lighting, emergency power systems, UPS, and batteries. Knowledge of grounding, relay coordination, and field investigations for clients. Ability to prepare contract documents for plans, specifications, and cost estimates from planning to final design; conduct site investigations and construction support (submittals, RFIs, change orders, record drawings). Strong knowledge of electrical codes and industry standards (NFPA 70/70E/820/780 and related IEEE, NEMA, ANSI, UL guidelines). Proficiency with Microsoft Teams, PowerPoint, Word, Excel; experience with SKM PTW, ETAP, and EasyPower for modeling. Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills; ability to multitask and work with minimal supervision; effective communication with all levels of personnel. Willingness to travel to project sites as needed. Nice to have
Proficiency with AGi32 or Visual Lighting Software. Knowledge of Bluebeam Revu, AutoCAD, Revit, and MicroStation. Field investigation, construction site inspection, and startup experience including electrical system testing and commissioning. Familiarity with IEEE color code standards.
