Responsibilities

Coordinate the advisement and registration process for all assigned student-athletes, including schedule changes, practice conflicts, and transfer evaluations. Collaborate with campus partners and advisors as needed. Coordinate practice times with head coaches. Oversee travel letter process for assigned teams and ensure communication with faculty regarding missed class time.

Oversee, monitor, and track the academic progress of all assigned student-athletes to ensure NCAA eligibility benchmarks are met. Provide accurate and timely daily, weekly, and semester academic reports to coaches and supervisor, and meet regularly with assigned student-athletes to monitor academic progress. Coordinate appointments for tutoring, academic coaching, career services, etc. as needed to proactively support student-athletes. Monitor and/or coordinate study hall schedule for assigned student-athletes. Provide one-on-one assistance to student-athletes to assist with time management, organization, and study skills. Travel with assigned teams as needed. Manage the department’s role in the NCAA certification process for assigned teams.

Assist with onboarding new student-athletes, including recruiting, orientation, summer bridge programming, and transfer evaluations. Collaborate with admissions, compliance, registrar and various campus partners. Manage transfer credit evaluations through collaboration with campus departments.

Assist with aspects of the part-time employee program. Assist with providing support, training, and professional growth opportunities through collaboration and inclusiveness.

Assist with the planning and organization of events and award nominations to promote positive cross-campus, inter-department relationships, and recognize student-athlete success.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

A bachelor’s degree and experience in student services programs.

Preferred Qualifications:

Master’s degree in Education, psychology, social work or other relevant area.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Competency with culturally diverse populations. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to exercise good judgment. Problem-solving skills. Leadership skills. Strong interpersonal skills. Creativity. Knowledge of effective learning strategies, motivational techniques, and student skill development. Familiarity with FERPA guidelines. Ability to build trust and strong professional interpersonal relationships with student-athletes, coaches, and university personnel. Have a student-centered approach to learning. Commitment to adhere to NCAA, Sun Belt Conference, and Coastal Carolina University regulations, as well as the mission, vision, and philosophy of the Student-Athlete Academic Services unit.
