The Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders (CSD) offers a master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology. As a campus-based graduate program within the UNC system, NCCU is located in Durham near Research Triangle Park. The CSD program is full-time, campus-based, and features a curriculum that integrates research, evidence-based clinical experiences, and a focus on serving diverse populations. The Master of Science degree in speech-language pathology is accredited by the Council on Academic Accreditation (CAA) in Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association. The NCCU Speech, Language, and Hearing Clinic provides evaluations and treatment services across the lifespan. Primary Purpose of Position:
To provide clinical experiences that foster and provide graduate students with the knowledge, skills, and clinical hours required to meet ASHA certification and North Carolina licensure standards in Speech-Language Pathology. This position will facilitate alignment with and maintain accreditation by the CAA in Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology. Duties include coordinating community-based practicum placements and providing clinical training and supervision to graduate students in the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Candidates with expertise in clinical supervision and clinic management will receive preferential consideration. Must work collaboratively with students and stakeholders using an interprofessional framework and stay current with trends in the profession and clinical education. Knowledge of CAA accreditation and ASHA certification standards is necessary. A senior candidate with experience in clinical education, supervision, and administration may be considered for Clinical Assistant Director with responsibilities for coordinating external practicum placements for students. Minimum Education/Experience:
Earned Master’s or PhD in a related field. Licenses or Certification required by Statute or Regulation:
The successful applicant will possess a master’s degree or clinical doctorate in Speech-Language Pathology, Certificate of Clinical Competence in SLP, and NC state licensure (or eligibility). Applicants must have at least three years of clinical experience as a certified SLP. Experience supervising graduate students in clinical placements is preferred. Equal Opportunity Employer:
