Abacus is looking for a Food Service Worker to join our team. Your principal goal will be to prepare high-quality meals that meet the chef's specifications. You will be responsible for setting up the prep station, stocking inventory, and maintaining sanitation standards. To be successful in this role, the ideal candidate will possess excellent communication and multi-tasking skills. Ultimately, you will play an essential role in contributing to customer satisfaction and restaurant growth. Responsibilities Ensure the preparation station and kitchen are set up and stocked Prepare simple components of each dish on the menu by chopping vegetables, cutting meat, and preparing sauces Operate standard kitchen equipment safely and efficiently Follow senior or sous chef instructions Ensure that food comes out simultaneously, in a high quality, timely fashion, and dishes are prepared following any specific request or allergy alerts Ensure food preparation and storage areas meet health and safety standards Clean prep areas and take care of leftovers Clean and sanitize cooking surface before, during, and after shift Stock inventory and supplies Cook menu items with the support of the kitchen staff Perform inventory checks for the assigned station and complete food storage logs Must be able to work any area of the kitchen/service area when needed Perform other related duties as assigned Qualifications Certificate in Culinary Arts or ServeSafe Food Protection Manager Certification Examination preferred High school diploma or equivalent Minimum of 3 years of experience in the restaurant industry Excellent understanding of various cooking methods, ingredients, equipment, and procedures Understand and adhere to proper food handling, safety and sanitization standards while preparing food, serving food, and clean up Accuracy and speed in executing assigned tasks Familiar with industry's best practices Excellent communication and organizational skills Aptitude for multi-tasking Must be able to work cooperatively and efficiently in a team Must have the ability to lift 10 pounds frequently and up to 30 pounds occasionally Schedule: Monday - Friday Shift: 5:30am - 2:00pm Pay Rate: $18.00
