Overview
Koniag IT Systems LLC, a Koniag Government Services company, is seeking a Systems Engineer to support KITS and our government customer in Washington, DC. This is a hybrid opportunity, requires 3 days onsite and 2 days remote.

We are looking for a highly qualified, experienced and self-motivated individual to perform the duties of a Server Engineer to support a potential future business opportunity located in Washington, DC.
The ideal Server Engineer will support our enterprise server infrastructure. This position will focus on implementing, maintaining, and troubleshooting server systems and related technologies.
Responsibilities
Implement and maintain Windows Server environments
Configure and manage virtualization platforms (VMware vSphere, Hyper-V)
Perform server patching, upgrades, and maintenance
Troubleshoot hardware and software issues in server environments
Configure and maintain backup and recovery solutions
Implement security controls and ensure compliance with security policies
Manage user access and permissions in Active Directory
Support server monitoring and alerting systems
Create and maintain server documentation
Participate in infrastructure projects and implementations
Support disaster recovery procedures and testing
Collaborate with other IT teams on integrated solutions
Participate in after-hours maintenance windows as needed
Provide escalation support for server-related issues
Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field
5+ years' experience in server administration and support
3+ years' experience with virtualization technologies
Experience with Windows Server operating systems
Required Skills and Competencies
Strong knowledge of Windows Server operating systems (2016, 2019, 2022)
Proficiency with virtualization platforms (VMware vSphere, Hyper-V)
Understanding of storage technologies and backup solutions
Experience with Active Directory management and Group Policy
Basic PowerShell scripting capabilities for automation
Knowledge of server hardware configurations and troubleshooting
Experience with server monitoring and management tools
Understanding of networking concepts as they relate to servers
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
Good documentation and communication skills
Base-level certification (CompTIA A+, Security+, or Network+)
Core certification (MCSA or equivalent)
Desired Skills and Competencies
Experience in government IT environments
Knowledge of cloud technologies (Azure, AWS)
Experience with Linux server administration
Familiarity with container technologies
Knowledge of configuration management tools
Experience with disaster recovery planning and implementation
ITIL certification or knowledge of ITIL processes
Security Requirements
