Overview

The Department of Biology at Providence College invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position beginning August 1, 2026. Candidates should hold a Ph.D. in the biological sciences (preferably with post-doctoral experience). Successful candidates will develop and maintain an active undergraduate research program and demonstrate excellence in teaching and mentoring. The successful candidate should be able to teach Microbiology and other courses of their choosing, including but not limited to Microbial Ecology, Genomics, Developmental Biology, Physiology, Cell Biology, Molecular Genetics, Immunology, and courses in their specialty area. The department has facilities including a vivarium, a microscopy and bioimaging suite, a cell culture room, a spinning disc confocal microscope, autoclave, freezers, shared molecular equipment, and dedicated wet labs for student/faculty research. Responsibilities

Develop and maintain an active, externally funded or potentially funded undergraduate biology research program. Teach Microbiology and other undergraduate biology courses (as listed above) and mentor undergraduate students. Engage in service activities and contribute to the mission and goals of Providence College and the Biology Department. Qualifications
