The position supports the WRNMMC Directorate of Behavioral Health, Advanced Therapeutics Program, and involves serving as a study therapist in clinical trials and potential clinical implementation of novel and emerging psychiatric interventions, including a MDMA-Assisted Therapy (MDMA-AT) trial for service members with PTSD. Responsibilities
Ensure the safety and protection of study participants. Serve as a study therapist, providing MDMA-AT and related non-drug therapy sessions (preparation and integration) and evaluations in compliance with protocol guidelines. Conduct comprehensive behavioral health evaluations and psychotherapy for study participants, with a focus on trauma-informed care and treatment-resistant PTSD. Monitor and assess participant safety, symptom progression, and therapeutic outcomes throughout the trial. Collaborate with Principal Investigators, study physicians, study therapists, and multidisciplinary teams to optimize patient care and research outcomes. Participate in study therapist meetings. Ensure regulatory compliance in accordance with study protocols and procedures. Training Development and Implementation In close partnership with a team of collaborators: Develop study therapy manual integrating Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) with MDMA-AT (MDMA-ACT). Develop and implement MDMA-ACT training program to include asynchronous training materials and up to a week-long in-person training for study therapist and team members. Review videos of open-label sessions to provide feedback to therapists and to update MDMA-ACT study therapy manual. Provide ongoing weekly consultation for study therapists. Qualifications
Education and Experience
Master's or Doctorate Degree in a health profession that allows for the provision of psychotherapy. Minimum of 9-10 years experience is required. Required Knowledge, Skills And Abilities
Experienced and proficient in providing psychotherapy in clinical practice. Technical skills to review and interpret electronic health records. Clinical risk management experience. Quality assurance. Independently licensed in Maryland to practice psychotherapy. Demonstrated expertise in training and implementing ACT. US Citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a T3/Secret Clearance. Preferred Qualifications
3+ years of clinical experience in behavioral health. Experience in clinical trials or clinical research involving FDA-regulated interventions. Familiarity with trauma-focused care, PTSD treatment, and/or novel psychopharmacology. Prior experience administering psychedelic-assisted therapy and/or IV ketamine therapy in approved settings. Knowledge of military culture and experience working with active duty or veteran populations. Strong documentation, organizational, and interdisciplinary collaboration skills. Licenses and Certifications
Licensure to practice medicine within the continental United States; Board certified or board eligible for certification in the specialty associated with the clinical research program. Must also be licensed to provide psychotherapy independently according to state or province and local requirements. Acceptable professional credentials include: Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) Licensed Mental Health Counselors (LMHC) Physical Capabilities
Lifting: Requires lifting materials up to 10 lbs. Ability to sit in a chair with and without a computer for prolonged periods. Work Environment
This position will take place primarily in a hospital or clinic setting. Compensation
The hourly pay range for this position is $48.32 - $89.71. Actual hourly pay will be determined based on experience, education, etc. Employment with HJF is contingent upon successful completion of a background check, including verification of references, previous employment, education and credentials, a criminal background check, and possibly a DMV check. Any qualifications to be considered as equivalents require prior approval of the Chief Human Resources Officer.
