Overview This position is responsible for the Mortgage Conventional Underwriting duties associated with First United Bank mortgage loans in accordance with all bank, investor, and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

Review loan amount changes that occur after clear-to-close; rerun AUS, ensure all conditions remain satisfied, clear Drive Report findings. Act as main point of contact from Underwriting for escalations from Closing.

Provide support to the senior underwriting staff by reviewing loan conditions regarding credit, income, and collateral risk.

Full underwrite on Conventional loans.

Work within specified time frames to assist in closing loans in a timely manner.

Maintain the confidentiality of the information reviewed.

Maintain and improve personal knowledge and skills.

Ensure compliance with company policies and guidelines.

Analyze risk and request additional documentation as necessary.

Stay up to date with agency guidelines, products and recent regulatory changes.

Performs other duties as requested by manager.

Provide exceptional servicing support to customers and loan officers.

Adherence to all First United policies and procedures.

Other miscellaneous duties as assigned.

Education and Work Experience

Bachelor's degree in business, finance, accounting, economics or related field.

5+ years of current mortgage processing experience.

Thorough knowledge of mortgage underwriting procedures, policies, guidelines and regulations.

Ability to apply sound credit risk principles and practices in making mortgage loan conditions decisions in a timely and decisive manner.

Ability to lead by example and participate as an effective member; conducts self as a professional.

Excellent customer service skills.

Encompass experience strongly preferred.

Advanced proficiency with DU/LPA.

Strong written and verbal communications skills.

Ability to work in a team environment to resolve problems.

Proficient computer skills.

Exceptional customer service skills.

Willingness to accept additional responsibilities. Good problem-solving and decision-making skills.

Dependable and adheres to timelines and schedules.

Takes initiative in development and completion of projects.

The ability to use email, phone, and other communication tools are necessary.

Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work well with a wide range of people.
