Overview Collector II/III

Attention Collections Specialists! We are seeking a Collector to join our Special Credits Team to collect loan payments and late charges while ensuring compliance with policies and regulations and protecting bank assets. This job posting lists the requirements for a Collector III; if you are interested in this position but do not meet the qualifications, please apply as we may be able to offer a Collector II to get your FNBA Career in Special Credits started.

Pay/salary offer would be commensurate with experience. Collector III: $25.15/hour minimum; Collector II: $20.50/hour minimum. Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8-5.

GENERAL PURPOSE SUMMARY Collects delinquent loan payments and late charges ensuring collections operations comply with bank policy and protects the bank’s assets by performing the following essential duties and responsibilities:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

Communicates with customers to determine the reason for delinquency and to collect delinquent payments and late charges adhering to collection procedures and guidelines.

Analyzes financial statements, tax returns, and other documentation to recommend the appropriate course of action to supervisor.

Recommends foreclosure and the alternatives to foreclosure; may arrange repayments or forbearance agreements.

Prepares and submits required correspondence to borrowers, investors, mortgage insurance companies, government agencies, and other appropriate parties.

Assists senior collections staff with preparing files for submittal to attorneys for foreclosure and other legal actions and monitoring the progress until the action is complete; assists in ordering and analysis of appraisals and Brokers Opinion of Value; completing pre-sales and taking actions in lieu of foreclosure arrangements.

Monitors bankruptcies and may assist Special Credits Officers represent the bank at bankruptcy hearings.

Assists in securing, inventorying, and ensuring utility hook-ups of bank owned real estate and investor properties; assists in the sale of bank owned and investor properties by marketing and processing paperwork for closings.

Performs other work-related duties as assigned by supervisor.

Maintain customer confidence and protect the bank’s operations by you and your delegates identifying and protecting confidential information.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

Collector II Minimum:

Associate's degree in business related field and one year customer service experience; or two years accounting, banking, lending, loan servicing, or related experience including one year customer service experience; or equivalent combination of education/training and experience.

Preferred:

One year collections experience.

Collector III Minimum:

Bachelor's degree in business, accounting, or related field and two years related experience, including one year of customer service related experience; or four years related experience with at least one year of customer service related experience; or equivalent combination of education/training and experience.

Preferred:

Two years collections or lending experience. Lead experience.

OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES:

Ability to keyboard 45 wpm and operate a 10-key by sight required. Word processing and spreadsheet software experience required. Ability to handle highly confidential information, frequent deadlines, and time constraints required.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports and business correspondence. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, customers, and the general public.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, and percentages. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra.

REASONING SKILLS:

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several variables.

The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision ability required by this job includes close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
