The University of California, Berkeley invites applications for up to seven approved tenure-track positions at the Assistant Professor level. The EECS department is part of the College of Engineering (COE) and the College of Computing, Data Science, and Society (CDSS). It offers a strong research and instructional program with cross-disciplinary, team-driven projects. The integration of EE and CS forms the core, with strong interactions across disciplines. EECS is seeking applicants from all research areas with priority given to originality and promise. In addition to broad area searches, EECS has a focused search in quantum computing theory and systems and a focused search in “AI, Inequality, and Society” as part of a cluster research initiative addressing AI-related impacts on society. Topics may include algorithmic fairness, AI and the economy, AI in sociotechnical systems, social and behavioral impacts of AI, AI and education, generative AI and large language models. The department is committed to addressing family needs of faculty, including dual-career couples and single parents. Candidates with non-traditional career paths or who have taken time off for family reasons, or who have excelled outside academia, are welcome to apply. Statement of Research - Discuss research accomplishments and future plans, including publications, awards, collaborations, and future research directions. Statement of Teaching - Discuss teaching experience, approach, and interests; include mentoring experiences and plans to foster inclusive education and research mentoring; may include courses you would feel comfortable teaching at UC Berkeley. Significant Publication 1 - Summarize the significance of the publication with title and author list. Significant Publication 2 - See above. Significant Publication 3 - See above. Authorization to Release Information Form - Complete, sign, and upload if selected for an offer process. Reference Requirements 3-5 letters of reference required Applicants must provide three to five letters of recommendation speaking to research, teaching, mentoring, and service.
