About the role

BSI is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Industrial Hygienist to join our dynamic EHS team in the Bay Area (Oakland or San Jose, CA). This entry-level Consulting Specialist – IH role is ideal for individuals with 1–3 years of experience in EHS consulting or corporate EHS, with a strong interest in Industrial Hygiene. In this client-facing role, you will perform exposure assessments, sampling, and monitoring, while supporting compliance with occupational health and safety regulations. You’ll gain hands-on experience across a variety of projects and industries, working alongside experienced consultants in a collaborative environment.

Key responsibilities

Conduct exposure assessments, investigations, sampling, and monitoring

Support occupational health and safety compliance initiatives

Assist with IH/Occupational Health & Safety training and audits

Contribute to sustainability and EHS-related projects (energy use, waste, environmental footprint, etc.)

Prepare technical reports and communicate findings to clients

Collaborate with senior consultants and ergonomic staff on evaluations

What we’re looking for

Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Health, Industrial Hygiene, or a related field

1–3 years of experience in EHS or IH-related work (internships and co-ops count)

Experience with IH sampling and monitoring (preferred)

Interest in or working toward CIH certification

Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills

Ability to work independently and collaboratively with clients and team members

Willingness to travel locally for client-related projects

The salary for this position can range from $80,800 to $111,100 annually; actual compensation is based on various factors, including but not limited to, the candidate’s competencies, level of experience, education, location, divisional budget and internal peer compensation comparisons.
