Overview
We are seeking a
Commercial Construction Estimator
to join a growing general contracting firm specialising in large-scale ground-up projects. The Estimator will be responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates and bid proposals for commercial construction projects valued at $10M and above. Reporting directly to the Vice President, this individual will work independently from the Arizona office while collaborating with the broader preconstruction team based in Minnesota. The ideal candidate will bring a solid background in ground-up estimating, a strong eye for detail, and the ability to manage deadlines in a dynamic environment. Responsibilities
Prepare detailed cost estimates, bid packages, and proposals for commercial ground-up projects.
Analyse drawings, specifications, and other documents to determine scope and pricing.
Conduct quantity takeoffs using On-Screen Takeoff or equivalent estimating software.
Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and subcontractors to obtain accurate pricing.
Manage bid schedules, submissions, and follow-up communications.
Review project budgets, monitor cost trends, and provide input for value engineering.
Support project handovers, ensuring estimates align with construction execution.
Maintain organised records of estimates, bids, and correspondence.
Contribute to continuous improvement of estimating procedures and accuracy.
Requirements
2–5 years of experience in commercial estimating, preferably with a general contractor.
Proven experience in ground-up construction projects (multifamily experience is a plus).
Strong understanding of construction means, methods, and sequencing.
Proficiency with
On-Screen Takeoff
(preferred) or equivalent software such as WinEst or BuildingConnected.
Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
Excellent analytical, organisational, and communication skills.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple deadlines simultaneously.
Willingness to travel for initial training and occasional team coordination.
Bilingual in Spanish is a strong advantage.
Nice to Have: Experience estimating projects $10M+ in value.
Exposure to vertical or multifamily construction.
Familiarity with fast-paced bid environments and tight turnaround times.
Salary
$75,000 – $125,000 base salary, commensurate with experience.. Location
Full-time,
in-office role
based in
Mesa, AZ
(or potentially Phoenix). Occasional travel to Minnesota for training and collaboration. Benefits
