Position Summary The Graphic Designer supports Chaminade University of Honolulu's strategic initiatives by creating compelling, mission-aligned visual materials across print and digital platforms. This role is central in bringing the University's mission to life through thoughtful, on-brand design that inspires, informs, and engages. With a focus on strengthening institutional brand awareness, the Graphic Designer contributes to a wide range of creative projects that support enrollment, fundraising, alumni and donor engagement, and community outreach. Working within a small, collaborative team, the designer plays a vital role in shaping the visual identity of the University for both internal and external audiences. This position is ideal for a creative professional who is passionate about design, energized by collaboration, and committed to contributing to a caring, inclusive academic community grounded in the Marianist values of service, community, and adaptation and change.

Reports to Direct Report to: Vice President for University Communications and Marketing

Essential Duties and Responsibilities Collaborate with the Communications and Marketing team to design and produce high-quality print and digital materials, including brochures, postcards, flyers, email templates, social media graphics, advertisements, and event collateral. Work closely with colleagues across departments to develop creative, visually impactful marketing solutions that reflect Chaminade's brand identity as a robust and contemporary community grounded in Catholic Marianist values. Partner with the Web Manager to keep www.chaminade.edu visually engaging and user-friendly for current and prospective students, faculty, staff, alumni, and the broader community. Contribute to the visual strategy of integrated marketing campaigns for admissions, advancement, and university outreach. Ensure that all designs meet institutional brand standards and communicate key messages clearly and effectively. Maintain and manage brand guidelines to promote consistency across all university communications. Serve as a creative resource to other departments, offering design guidance and support to ensure alignment with university branding. Liaise with print vendors and other external partners to plan, budget, and produce high-quality marketing and communication materials. Assist in the development and execution of targeted ad campaigns with unified visual and messaging strategies. Participate in and support special projects and university initiatives as assigned. Education and Experience Minimum Bachelor's degree in graphic design, visual arts, communications, or relevant field 5 years experience in graphic design across multi-media communications software and technology (to include basic proficiency related to print and web design). 5+ years of professional design experience, preferably in higher education, nonprofit, or mission-driven organizations. Provide a portfolio of past work. Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Strong portfolio demonstrating creative range and proficiency in both print and digital design. Deep understanding of branding, layout, typography, and visual storytelling. Ability to interpret strategic goals and translate them into compelling visual communications. Demonstrated experience in designing for integrated marketing and communication campaigns. Expertise in Adobe Creative Cloud (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop); familiarity with Canva, Figma, or motion graphics tools. Collaborative mindset and ability to work across teams in a collegial, fast-paced environment. Excellent communication, project management, and organizational skills. Physical Requirements Duties involve light work in an office and community setting and require a minimum of physical effort with intermittent sitting, standing, climbing stairs, and walking inclines. Must be able to lift 20 pounds, walk the campus with ease, and have excellent motor skills. Must have finger dexterity. Must be able to communicate information and ideas so that others will understand.

Other Requirements This is a full-time, exempt position. Forty hours per week (M-F) will be the general rule. However, depending on the project cycles and workflow demands of the department, additional hours or workday schedule changes may be occasionally required. Must be willing and able to work occasional nights and weekends, and have a varying schedule when required Performs such similar, comparable, or related duties as may be assigned or required Observes all safety and health regulations and works in accordance with safe work procedures and policies of the University.
