Overview

Lead Warehouse Team Member role combining coordination and training responsibilities within daily warehouse operations. Works with building leadership to plan labor, manage workflows, and drive training programs across the facility.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and manage workflows across the facility, plan labor, move resources, and support inbound carrier interactions.
  • Administrate work in our systems and manage daily operations to meet operational goals.
  • Own training for new and experienced warehouse team members, including PIT training, cross training, efficiency coaching, certification and recertification.
  • Partner with leadership to plan daily/weekly labor, evaluate training programs, develop new process training, monitor effectiveness, and participate in continuous improvement initiatives as assigned.
  • Prepare staffing plans, adjust as needed to meet goals, and escalate to leadership when necessary.
  • Plan, allocate, and coordinate activities in the WMS; manage movement of resources to optimize dock flow.
  • Coordinate with Customer Service and Transportation to fulfill urgent deliveries and will-call requests.
  • Release work to the picking queue to support staging and loading in stop order; assign emergency replenishment tasks as needed.
  • Print transfer paperwork, end-of-day packing slips, and reconcile end-of-day fulfillment.
  • Track inbound PO status, schedule deliveries, distribute daily schedule, and track inbound truck status.
  • Collaborate with internal and external parties to resolve OS&D items and ensure responsible documentation.
  • Maintain organized work areas and ensure documents (digital and paper) are easily retrievable (BOLs, OS&Ds, etc.).
  • Provide timely information to stakeholders and maintain data integrity in MS Excel and WMS apps.
  • Monitor and manage receiving emails: respond to requests, communicate delays, and coordinate scheduling with planning teams.
  • Contribute to all inbound and outbound activities as needed.

Training

  • Develops, refines, delivers and manages all new hire classroom and hands-on training for the Warehouse, including new hire progress checks and certification within the first 90 days.
  • Develops, refines, delivers and manages new hire PIT training/certification and recertification for experienced team members.
  • Develops, refines, delivers and manages cross training for all Warehouse roles.
  • Maintains Warehouse Skills Matrix to ensure accurate records of capabilities for planning.
  • Identifies and drives best practices to improve training effectiveness.
  • Partners with Supervisors to identify process opportunities to increase efficiency and accuracy; rolls out new processes and initiatives.
  • Recertifies experienced team members on systems, equipment, functions, safety and procedures.
  • Participates in the development and revision of SOPs and Job Instructions; ensures adherence to SOPs and policies.
  • Assists in safety program development and delivery.
  • Participates in Gemba walks, Kaizen events, and other process improvement initiatives as assigned.
  • Contributes to outbound activities as needed (picking, replenishment, loading, etc.).

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of warehouse experience
  • Strong presentation, facilitation, and written/verbal communication skills
  • Exemplary performance and safety record
  • Certified on pallet rider, counterbalance, and hi-reach (cherry picker preferred)
  • Proven ability to work independently with minimal oversight
  • Attention to detail and strong organization
  • Understanding of inbound/outbound priorities and processes
  • Ability to build relationships at all levels
  • Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Office tools
  • Solutions-oriented, proactive problem solver
  • 3+ years of warehouse experience, preferably distribution
  • Experience leading training, facilitating meetings, managing operations, and resolving exceptions
