As the Lead Warehouse Team Member, you will own critical tasks and functions in daily warehouse execution and training. You will coordinate workflows across the facility, plan labor, move resources, interact with inbound carriers, administer work in various systems, and manage daily operations. As a trainer, you will lead training for new and experienced team members, including PIT training, cross training, efficiency coaching, certification and recertification, and partner with leadership to plan labor needs, meet operational goals, refine training programs, build training for new processes, monitor training effectiveness, and participate in continuous improvement initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare staffing plans and execute adjustments to meet daily operational goals; elevate issues to leadership when necessary.
  • Plan, allocate, and coordinate all activities in the Warehouse Management System (WMS).
  • Move resources to optimize dock flow.
  • Monitor order changes, revisions, and removals; plan and execute necessary order adjustments in WMS/JDA systems and assign tasks for completion.
  • Coordinate with Customer Service and Transportation teams to fulfill urgent delivery and will call request.
  • Align and execute release of work to the picking queue to facilitate staging and loading in stop order.
  • Assign emergency replenishment tasks to fulfill priority/transfer orders.
  • Print transfer paperwork.
  • Coordinate with Transportation team to complete pre-load trailer inspections and manage pre-cooling of trailers according to temperature zone specifications prior to loading.
  • Identify and resolve any loading issues.
  • Print end-of-day packing slips and perform end-of-day reconciliation to validate the successful fulfillment of orders.
  • Track the status of inbound purchase orders, schedule deliveries, distribute daily schedule, and track inbound truck status.
  • Work with internal and external parties to gather required information for overage, shortage, or damaged items received; disseminate OS&D information to stakeholders and track resolution.
  • Maintain an organized work area and ensure documents are easily retrieved, including BOLs, OS&Ds, and other inbound documentation.
  • Provide timely and accurate information for stakeholders including purchasing, vendors, security, and leadership; update Excel worksheets and WMS apps to ensure data integrity.
  • Monitor and manage receiving email, including replying to appointment requests, proactive communication for late appointments/carriers, communication to planning team when appointments are not scheduled in a timely manner, monitor Amada communication and provide edits/corrections when necessary.
  • Capable of contributing in all inbound and outbound activities as needed.

Training

  • Develop, refine, deliver, and manage new hire classroom and hands-on training; perform new hire progress checks and certification within first 90 days.
  • Develop, refine, deliver, and manage new hire PIT training/certification (classroom and hands-on) and recertify experienced team members.
  • Develop, refine, deliver, and manage cross training for all roles.
  • Maintain Warehouse Skills Matrix to accurately record capabilities and versatility for operational planning.
  • Identify and drive best practices to increase training program effectiveness.
  • Partner with supervisors to identify process opportunities for experienced team members to increase efficiency and accuracy.
  • Partner with supervisors to rollout and train new processes and initiatives as needed.
  • Recertify experienced team members on systems, equipment, functions, safety, and procedures.
  • Participate in SOPs and Job Instruction development and revision to ensure consistency, efficiency, and safety.
  • Ensure all training documents, materials, and processes adhere to company SOPs and policies.
  • Assist in developing, documenting, and delivering safety programs and initiatives.
  • Participate in Gemba walks and Kaizen events and other process improvement initiatives as assigned.
  • Capable of contributing in all outbound activities as needed, including picking, replenishment, loading, etc.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 2+ years of warehouse experience.
  • Strong presentation, facilitation, and written/verbal communication skills.
  • Exemplary performance and safety record.
  • Certified on pallet rider, counterbalance, and hi-reach (cherry picker preferred).
  • Proven record of working independently with little oversight – high initiative and urgency.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and organization.
  • Thorough understanding of inbound and outbound operational priorities, dependencies, and processes.
  • Ability to build effective relationships at all levels of the organization.
  • Comfortable with Microsoft programs: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Office, etc.
  • Solutions oriented proactive problem solver.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3+ years of warehouse experience, preferably in distribution.
  • Experience leading training, facilitating meetings, managing operations, and resolving exceptions.
