Recreational Sports Assistant (Part Time)
Houston, Texas, Katy Campus – Part-Time
Summary: Assists with event planning, promotion of events, administrative tasks and customer support within the recreational sports program.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist in the planning, organization, and execution of recreational events including outdoor adventures, trips and special events such as tournaments and themed activities.
- Promote events through various channels including social media, flyers, and campus announcements.
- Assist in developing creative marketing strategies to increase student participation.
- Champion and promote careers in STEM at assigned schools during specific timeframes.
- Assist with facility tours and orientation sessions for new users.
- Assist in the creation and distribution of promotional materials.
- Monitor inventory and check out of recreational equipment and supplies.
- Provide excellent customer service to students and other facility users.
- Respond to inquiries in person, via phone, and through email.
- Assist with organizing, scheduling, officiating, and supervising intramural sports leagues and tournaments.
- Support wellness initiatives, including workshops, fitness classes, and health campaigns.
- Support fitness center operations, including equipment maintenance, monitoring usage, and aiding users.
- Perform general office duties such as filing, data entry, and maintaining records.
- Other duties may be assigned.
Qualifications
Education
- High school diploma or GED required.
Experience
- 1 year experience or an interest in sports, fitness, or event planning preferred. Training and instruction will be provided.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Creative, ambitious, friendly, and outgoing personality with the ability to motivate others.
- Maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with professionalism.
- Good organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Must be available to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends.
