Overview

The CMM Programmer/Operator is responsible for developing, verifying, and running inspection programs on Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMMs) to ensure machined and manufactured parts meet engineering drawings, models, and customer requirements. This role combines technical programming skills with hands-on inspection work and requires a strong understanding of GD&T, precision measurement, and quality standards. The CMM Programmer/Operator plays a critical role in ensuring first-article, in-process, and final inspections are accurate, traceable, and compliant with internal and external specifications. Responsibilities

Develop and edit CMM programs using CAD models, blueprints, and GD&T requirements. Operate CMMs to perform first-article, in-process, and final inspections. Validate programs to ensure accuracy, repeatability, and efficiency. Inspect parts and assemblies to verify conformance to specifications. Generate and maintain inspection reports, including FAIs. Record, analyze, and communicate inspection results with engineering. Work with machinists, engineers, and staff to resolve dimensional issues. Provide feedback to improve part designs and processes. Assist with training and supporting quality technicians and inspectors on CMM use. Maintain calibration and care of CMMs and associated inspection tools. Ensure compliance with ISO 9001, or other applicable quality standards. Promote adherence to safety standards and 5S workplace organization. Education/Experience

Minimum 3 years of experience in quality inspection, with at least 2 years of hands-on CMM programming and operation. Proven ability to complete FAIs High School Diploma or equivalent required. Technical training or certification in metrology, quality, or CNC/CMM programming preferred. Strong knowledge of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing). Ability to interpret engineering drawings, CAD models, and specifications. Proficiency in using inspection tools (calipers, micrometers, height gauges, etc.). Understanding of ISO quality system requirements. Strong attention to detail, organizational, and documentation skills. Effective communication and teamwork skills. Computer Skills

Microsoft Office Experience with CMM software (e.g., Wenzel, Mitutoyo, Zeiss, or equivalent). Computer proficiency, including CMM software, CAD, Microsoft Office, and QMS systems. Physical Demands

Ability to stand or sit for extended periods while running inspection programs. Ability to lift to 50 lbs. occasionally. Manual dexterity for handling precision tools and small components. Visual acuity to detect part defects and verify measurement results. Work Environment

The warehouse environment may include exposure to varying temperatures, dust, noise, and potential hazards such as moving machinery. Employment details
