Emergency Dispatcher Trainee – Registry at Pinal County.
Job Summary Under close supervision, the trainee will answer emergency and non‑emergency calls, collect information from callers, enter data into the database, and provide assistance and information to the Pinal County Sheriff’s Office (PCSO) Deputies and other emergency services agencies.
The position is entry‑level; upon successful completion of the training period, the trainee is eligible for a non‑competitive promotion to Emergency Dispatcher.
Essential Duties
Answer incoming emergency calls, interview and pacify callers, collect details, prioritize calls, and dispatch emergency responders.
Provide accurate information and instructions to the public within the scope of authority.
Enter call information into the computer‑aided dispatch (CAD) system and related databases for deputies’ requests.
Track law‑enforcement and public‑safety agencies, resources, personnel, incidents, and trends.
Maintain status and awareness of all public‑safety unit locations and monitor message traffic, relaying information to deputies.
Enter data for records and reports, process forms, query system databases, collect statistical data, compile reports, and update database accuracy.
Assist other Sheriff’s personnel, county departments, business and federal, state, and local emergency services organizations.
Maintain confidentiality of work‑related information and restricted county information.
Minimum Requirements
High school diploma or GED equivalent.
Two (2) years of customer service and computer experience.
Typing speed of 35 words per minute or higher.
Must pass a thorough background investigation and re‑investigation every five years.
Terminal Operator Certification for access to Arizona Criminal Justice Information System (ACJIS) required within six months of hire.
Or an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may substitute for the minimum requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
Valid Arizona State Driver’s License.
Additional technical training and certifications may be required at the direction of the Sheriff.
CritiCall Practice Test The two‑hour standardized test evaluates multi‑tasking and keyboarding skills, and a typing test; a passing score is 35 words per minute or above.

Mostly sedentary work performed in a safe and secured area.
High‑volume, 24‑hour emergency communications center operation, requiring extended periods of sitting.
Must be available to work long, irregular schedules including nights, overtime, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
