Our compassionate team provides a wide range of inpatient and outpatient services, including acute care rehabilitation, joint replacement & spinal surgery, neurosurgery, ICU, Telemetry, step-down care, skilled nursing, as well as outpatient therapy, hand and lymphedema clinics.

Patient Safety Officer – Risk Management (Full Time, Days)
Pay
Base pay range:
$53.73/hr - $85.94/hr
Responsibilities Provide primary oversight of the facility-wide patient safety program.
Direct others within the facility toward process improvements that reduce medical errors and unintended adverse patient outcomes.
Lead safety assessments, coordinate the activities of the patient safety function or committee, and educate staff on system-based causes of errors.
Consult with management and staff; communicate literature-based ideas on effective patient safety strategies.
Work with all services to hardwire reliable delivery of healthcare systems that incorporate best practice patient safety methodologies.
Oversee the Patient Safety Program and the Patient Safety Committee, including the grievance process.
Investigate patient safety issues; lead Root Cause Analysis, Focused Reviews, and Intense Analysis.
Promote error reporting (including near misses) through a nonpunitive reporting system.
Ensure compliance with audits and monitoring defined in action plans; identify reportable events and collaborate with regulatory bodies as required.
Notify the Chief Medical Officer and Corporate leadership of potential risk issues; collaborate with hospital leadership to promote best practices for patient safety.
Revise and/or develop policies and procedures involving patient safety; design educational presentations to facilitate understanding and implementation of safety standards.
Serve as a resource for employees and medical staff on patient safety issues; work with the Compliance Officer on related inquiries.
Support and analyze the annual Patient Safety Survey and address findings with departmental leaders.
Handle product recalls and defective products through established processes; report to FDA or manufacturers as required.
Regularly update the organization on patient safety initiatives, Sentinel Alerts, and best practices.
Integrate patient safety into new processes and redesigns of existing processes, functions and services; participate in Failure Mode and Effects Analysis.
Coordinate activity of the patient safety committee across stakeholders from staff to Board members.
Oversee management and use of medical errors information; drive initiatives using internal and external data.
Develop proactive risk assessment strategies across services; promote a non-punitive environment for safety reporting.
Support budget development related to patient safety activities; ensure data for decision-making is robust and representative.
Maintain confidentiality of patient information and the privileged status of information; uphold the values of DRMC (Patient Focus, Accountability, Compassion, Continuous Improvement, Diversity, Innovation, Integrity, Joy, Teamwork).
Qualifications
Required
Bachelor’s Degree in a patient care-related field.
Minimum 3 years of experience (5 years preferred) with progressive responsibility in quality/performance improvement and/or patient safety.
Experience in leading meetings and interdisciplinary process-improvement initiatives; ability to improve reliability of healthcare delivery at the point of care.
Experience coordinating root cause analyses and intense analyses; strong data interpretation skills.
Superior interpersonal and communication skills; strong leadership and multitasking abilities.
Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities to meet deadlines.
Preferred
J.D. or Master’s in Nursing, Health Services, or Patient Safety.
Certified Professional Healthcare Risk Manager (CPHRM).
