Overview
Bonnell Aluminum is actively seeking a results-oriented Plant Controller who will report to the Division Controller in Carthage, TN. The Plant Controller will be responsible for directing all accounting functions of the site, thereby assuring the integrity of the accounting function as well as supporting and influencing decision-making and the direction of the Plant. Highly motivated and team-oriented, this person will possess an excellent knowledge of U.S. accounting practices. The Controller will have the ability to balance detailed transactional work with large-scale accounting projects.
What You’ll Be Responsible For
The position will partner with the plant leadership team and other plant personnel to ensure the timeliness, integrity, and accuracy of the plant’s financial records.
The role will ensure necessary processes and functions are maintained, monitored, and controlled in accordance with financial standards and company policies.
Provide needed analytical support, variance analysis, financial and management reporting for income statement and balance sheet.
Identify improvement opportunities, drive execution and accountability to maximize plant and business unit financial performance including improving site profitability, manufacturing cost optimization.
Direct and ensure the financial integrity of plant assets, accounting, and reporting for the Plant.
Ensure plant accounting compliance with GAAP, SOX, and Bonnell/Tredegar policies, including maintaining proper electronic and hard copy documentation and maintaining control environment at the plant.
Lead and direct activities to ensure proper asset control and valuation.
Review the general ledger, the trial balance and physical inventories and cycle counts.
Manage period-end closing activities.
Support audit activities and follow up on internal and external audit results to address deficiencies.
Consult site investment project owners on proper classification of capital vs. expense items; evaluate economic returns / benefits on proposed capital investments and continuous improvement projects; conduct post-audits.
Train plant team on financial and accounting matters and better use of cost and analysis information.
Lead site process improvement efforts / projects related to financial information enhancements.
Direct internal financial reporting function at the plant.
Develop annual budgets and quarterly forecasts, working in conjunction with the plant team.
Perform period income statement and balance sheet analysis for the plant with a focus on causes of change resulting from significant changes or metrics which are off of plan and budget.
Perform variance analysis of actual operating profit results to Plan and Forecast, understand and quantify the underlying drivers; report the analysis to the plant & corporate users.
What You’ll Need to Have In addition to being able fulfill the duties of this role, of particular importance will be the candidate’s authentic leadership skills demonstrated by having developed or helped develop an organizational environment of trust, team collaboration and cooperation, learning, and personal growth. We are seeking candidates that also have experience in business environments characterized by challenging economic conditions; with rapid change being of particular importance.
Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field with extensive accounting experience with multi-site manufacturing organizations of similar or greater scale as Bonnell.
Minimum 7 years- Accounting/Manufacturing experience.
Strong knowledge of and ability to understand and drive assessment of issues in GAAP.
Strong communication (oral and written), analytical, organization, planning and project management skills.
Previous experience with Excel, Word and accounting-related software, specifically Oracle and Hyperion.
Demonstrated knowledge of financial systems; JD Edwards a plus
Ability to identify and implement process and other improvements, partnering with others as needed.
