Confidential acute-care facility seeking a dependable Phlebotomist to perform venipuncture and capillary draws across all ages, manage specimen handling/labeling, complete documentation, assist with clerical lab duties, and support patient-centered care.
Responsibilities
- Perform venipuncture and skin puncture for pediatric, adult, neonatal, and geriatric patients.
- Accurately label, process, and prepare specimens for testing; follow chain-of-custody and rejection protocols.
- Verify patient ID and complete specimen collection documentation in the LIS/EMR.
- Educate patients/families on collection procedures with professionalism and care.
- Assist with clerical lab tasks (faxing, phones, pneumatic tube, reports) and resolve outstanding specimen/accessioning issues.
- Maintain supplies, follow infection-control and safety protocols, and participate in quality control.
- High school diploma or GED required; vocational/technical or phlebotomy certificate beneficial.
- Entry-level to <1 year clinical lab/phlebotomy experience acceptable; hospital/acute-care experience a plus.
- MediClear certification (or equivalent) - required.
- Strong time-management, attention to detail, and patient-service skills.
- Familiarity with specimen handling, labeling, and basic EMR/LIS entry.
- Ability to pass background check and any required screenings.
