Overview
Job opportunity for L&I Claims Administration within Insurance Services. The role is a Claims Trainer (Workers’ Compensation Adjudicator 4) responsible for training staff, adjudicators, consultants, and other department staff to develop strategic thinking and consistent application of policies and laws. Responsibilities
Train and mentor staff to adopt a strategic approach to claim management using analytical and soft skills Serve as a technical resource on complex claim management issues for staff who administer Title 51 benefits Provide training and coaching to ensure consistent application of policies and laws Collaborate with coaches/mentors, claim consultants, pension adjudicators, occupational nurse consultants, and others to address training needs Coordinate with Claims Administration, Employer Services, RTW Partnerships, Legal Services and Self-Insurance to maintain program consistency Act as a technical resource for Workers\' Compensation Adjudicators on procedures involving BPS, ORION, LINIIS and ECS Contribute to developing strategies for Quality Assurance and improved claim management Qualifications
Required:
Successful completion of the Department of Labor and Industries Workers’ Compensation Adjudicator 2 Apprenticeship program and either one year of experience as a Workers’ Compensation Adjudicator 3 or a Bachelor's degree Three years of experience in adjudicating workers’ or crime victims’ compensation insurance claims or adjudication of time loss payments OR equivalent education/experience Desired Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities:
Experience facilitating and training large groups using adult learning techniques Proficiency with Microsoft PowerPoint or similar software Strategic thinker with focus on reducing work disability and returning workers to work Knowledge of Washington State Industrial Insurance Laws (WAC, case law, policies, medical terminology) Strong written and verbal communication; ability to provide information, instruction, feedback and encouragement Confidentiality and professionalism with strong interpersonal skills Time management and prioritization; ability to work with multiple programs and systems (BPS, ORION, LINIIS, ECS) Supplemental Information
