The main purpose of this full-time position is to process licensure applications, verifications and the issuance of licensure for temporary and initial registered nurse and licensed practical nurse applicants. The incumbent will independently evaluate licensure qualifications, determine eligibility for licensure by endorsement and process license verification. The role will ensure efficient and timely processing of endorsement applications and use independent judgment in applying and interpreting complex administrative plans and policies. The position serves as the first point of contact for licenses and applicants via telephone, email, and walk-ins. The role will analyze licensure data to ensure nurses are in compliance with the Nurse Practice Act and Multistate Licensure Compact Rules, perform required notifications, and make corrections in the licensure databases (NURSYS and internal systems). This position supports the Board’s mission to advance safe quality care and public protection in Maryland. Responsibilities
Process licensure applications, verifications and the issuance of licensure for temporary and initial RN and LPN applicants. Independently evaluate licensure qualifications and determine eligibility for licensure by endorsement. Process license verifications and endorsements; ensure timely processing. Serve as the first point of contact for licenses and applicants via phone, email, and walk-ins. Analyze licensure data to ensure compliance with the Nurse Practice Act and Multistate Licensure Compact Rules. Make corrections and updates in the licensure database and NURSYS. Minimum Qualifications
Education : Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate. Experience : One year of administrative staff or professional work. Notes : Candidates may substitute 30 college credit hours from an accredited college or university for the required experience. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as described for the required experience. Desired or Preferred Qualifications
Excellent customer service experience Experience working with the public Exceptional email and phone etiquette Experience with Microsoft Office and Google Suites Licenses, Registrations and Certifications
Employees may be assigned duties requiring operation of a motor vehicle and must possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in Maryland. Selection Process
Applicants who meet the minimum (and selective) qualifications will be evaluated. The process may include rating of education, training and experience related to the requirements of the position.
