Children’s Research Fund
* Conducts DSM-V-based diagnostic evaluations and develops treatment plans for children and adolescents.* Provides pharmacotherapy to children and adolescents.* Provides individual, group, or family therapy to children, adolescents and their families as needed.* Follows protocols and procedures of the Department of Child & Adolescent Psychiatry and Lurie Children’s Hospital.* Maintains appropriate clinical documentation in the electronic medical record. Writes letters, notes, and formal clinical reports on patient contacts. Communicates progress over the telephone and via the electronic medical record, as appropriate.* Collaborates and consults with medical providers, schools, and social service agencies as well as city, county, and state funding and placement agencies through oral and written presentation of clinical findings and recommendations. Completes all case management duties of assigned cases including discharge planning, completion of the diagnostic evaluation and referrals to appropriate support services as needed.* Performs job functions adhering to service principles with customer service focus of innovation, service excellence and teamwork to provide the highest quality care and service to our patients, families, co-workers, and others.* Shares in on-call duties of the Department.* Shares in the weekday, weekend, and holiday attending physician coverage of the IPU, PHP and psychiatry consult services during the absence of the medical staff on those units (for professional meetings, PTO, etc.).
Works with team members to provide appropriate coverage for scheduled absences.* Participates in rounds, patient care conferences, diagnostic and treatment staffing team meetings, multidisciplinary case conferences, and discipline-specific team meetings.* Provides clinical supervision and didactic teaching of students, interns, residents, and fellows.* Shares in staffing of cases and in-service education for clinical non-psychiatrist staff.* Leads and participates in multidisciplinary teams.* Presents CME and community education sessions.* Participates in peer review activities and quality improvement initiatives.* Contributes to appropriate hospital, department, and program committees, task forces, and meetings.* Participates in recruitment and selection of trainees, staff, and faculty.* Provides training through direct supervision and teaching of didactic courses in the subspecialties of clinical child and pediatric psychology to Lurie Children’s, McGaw Medical Center, and Feinberg School of Medicine students, interns, and fellows in various disciplines.* Engages in scholarly activities, including research, scholarly reviews program evaluation, development of educational material such as papers, manual, podcasts, etc.* Collaborates with team members and department & hospital leadership in writing/reviewing program and departmental policies and procedures as needed.* Participates in continuing education events including hospital and department mandatory education courses and courses required to maintain professional certification/licensure requirements.* Develops goals for the progress of the scholarly program with the Department Chair and Vice Chairs at least annually.* Reports on progress towards individual scholarly goals to the Department Chair and Vice Chairs at least annually.* Certified or eligible for certification by ABPN in child and adolescent psychiatry. Attain certification within the time limit set by Department. Maintain certification as specified by the ABPN.* Maintains personal CME according to Illinois standards.* Maintains current unrestricted license to practice medicine in Illinois and a cointrolled substance license from the DEA and Illlinois* Maintains current active membership with privileges on the Lurie Children’s Medical and Dental Staff* Participates in Medicaid and in insurance panels with managed care* Ability to think proactively, act creatively, and take initiative appropriately.
