Description

Greater Nashua Mental Health is seeking a Medical Office Assistant to join ourMedical Services Team!

The Medical Office Assistant plays a key role in supporting client care by welcoming clients from the waiting area to the clinical space and collecting a full set of vital signs, accurately documenting results in the EMR. This position also supports the department by maintaining and ordering supplies, as well as serving as a liaison between the agency and external laboratories.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Ushers clients from the waiting room, collects a complete set of vital signs prior to client appointment with prescriber, and documents the results promptly into the EMR.
  • Collects samples of bodily fluids as necessary for genetic testing and drug screening, setting up both instant and send-out interpretation of results. Enters orders into respective online portals, including client insurance information.
  • Obtains laboratory results from a variety of sources, and prints and /or records, as appropriate in EMR and/or REMs.
  • Acts as the liaison between the prescriber, families, and staff, as appropriate.
  • Assists the nursing staff in outreach to clients and fellow staff.
  • Coordinates the ordering and storage of supplies utilized by the nursing department.
  • Assists Nursing Manager with infection control and special projects.
  • Performs other duties or special projects as required or as assigned.
Requirements

Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent required. Post-secondary preparation in Nursing Assistant is preferred
  • Ability to accurately collect and measure all required vital signs preferred, otherwise training can be provided.
  • Proficiency in using EMR and other online systems.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Email, Word, EXCEL).
  • Strong collaborating skills, and an ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Comfortable in a fast-paced environment with frequent deadlines; high energy, self-motivated and proactive.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to multitask, and be flexible with regard to workload and assignments.
  • Ability to exercise judgment.
