College of Arts and Sciences Responsibilities
The Department of Computer Science at Florida State University invites applications for a full-time 12-month Teaching Faculty I position beginning Fall 2026. The position is non-tenure track, renewable, and benefits eligible. This position will have responsibilities in teaching and service. Primary responsibilities will be teaching a variety of courses in the undergraduate Computer Science program. Additionally, teaching faculty are expected to help develop new courses and initiatives to keep pace with emerging technologies. Faculty are also expected to engage in professional development activities including participation with organizations focused on CS education and accreditation. This position includes a service component involving committee membership at the department or university level, as well as leading initiatives to further community engagement with industry partners, modernize curriculum, and improve student outcomes. Qualifications
Applicants should have a terminal degree in Computer Science or a related field from an accredited institution and a record of college teaching experience. Applicants should also be capable and willing to teach most courses in an ABET-accredited core undergraduate Computer Science curriculum, as well as service classes ranging from digital fluency to computer programming. The department currently has 31 tenure-track and 7 specialized faculty members and offers degrees at the BS, MS, and PhD levels. Undergraduate programs include a B.S. and B.A. track in Computer Science as well as degrees in Cyber Criminology, Computational Biology, and Computer Programming and Application Development. The department looks to provide world-class instruction for undergraduates while emphasizing the importance of research and professional engagement in a well-rounded education in Computer Science. The department is an NSA/DHS Center of Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense Education and Research. More information can be found at:
