Competitive Wages & Annual Merit Increase This position must be a licensed RN. 50% of this role will be training MA's and completing their competencies. 50% will be working with patients in our primary care, appointment only clinic.
The MA Trainer is responsible for designing, conducting, and overseeing training programs for Medical Assistants (MAs) to ensure they possess the knowledge, skills, and competencies required to deliver high-quality patient care.
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Develop and implement structured training programs for new and existing Medical Assistants. • Provide hands-on instruction and demonstrations in clinical procedures, including but not limited to:
Administering injections Administering vaccinations Performing point-of-care testing Assisting with minor procedures Proper documentation and use of the Electronic Health Record (EHR)
• Stay current with clinical best practices, industry regulations, and organizational policies to ensure training content remains up to date. • Develop and administer competency assessments for Medical Assistants to evaluate proficiency in all clinical areas. • Observe MAs performing clinical tasks and provide direct feedback, coaching, and retraining as needed. • Maintain accurate records of training sessions, competency assessments, and follow-up actions. • Provide refresher training and retraining as needed to address gaps in clinical skills or knowledge. • Serve as a resource and mentor for Medical Assistants, answering clinical questions and providing support as needed. • Collaborate with clinic managers to ensure MAs consistently perform at the required standards.
In addition to training responsibilities, the RN Trainer will perform direct patient care duties in an ambulatory care setting as needed: • Conduct patient triage, including obtaining vital signs, reviewing patient histories, and assessing presenting symptoms. • Administer medications, injections, and vaccinations per provider orders. • Perform point-of-care testing, wound care, EKGs, and other diagnostic support functions. • Assist providers during minor procedures and examinations. • Provide patient education on treatment plans, medications, chronic disease management, and preventative health.
Position Requirements:
Current, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in California. • 3 years of clinical nursing experience in an ambulatory care or outpatient clinic setting. • At least 1-2 years of experience in training, mentoring, or precepting healthcare staff preferred. • Ability to travel between clinic sites. • Strong knowledge of California MA Scope of Practice and Clinical Competencies. • Strong background in vaccinations, injections, and outpatient procedures is highly desirable. • In-depth understanding of clinical workflows in ambulatory care. • Strong training, coaching, and mentoring skills. • Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities. • Proficiency in Electronic Health Records (EHR) and clinical documentation standards. • Ability to evaluate competencies and provide constructive feedback effectively.
