Overview
We're seeking a mechanically focused Manufacturing Engineer to support the design, development, and optimization of manufacturing processes for fabricated, machined, and assembled components. This role plays a key part in driving efficiency, quality, and continuous improvement across our production operations.
Key Responsibilities- Develop, implement, and maintain manufacturing methods, processes, and tooling for fabricated, cast, and machined parts, subassemblies, and final products.
- Continuously improve production flow, assembly methods, and test processes to enhance cost efficiency, quality, and safety.
- Apply Lean Manufacturing principles to refine workflows, reduce waste, and improve productivity.
- Conduct research and development on new manufacturing techniques, equipment, and process improvements.
- Identify and implement opportunities to improve product manufacturability and reduce costs through changes in design, materials, tooling, or assembly methods.
- Create and maintain process documentation including FMEAs, control plans, process flows, work instructions, and inspection plans.
- Collaborate closely with production, quality, and design engineering to resolve technical issues, support engineering changes, and address component obsolescence.
- Participate in design reviews, process reviews, supplier audits, failure analyses, and first article inspections.
- Promote a culture of quality, accountability, and teamwork, aligning with the company's core values and ethical standards.
- Report and help resolve any product quality concerns or process deviations in accordance with company procedures.
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment (defense industry experience preferred).
- U.S. Citizenship and the ability to obtain or hold a DoD Secret Clearance.
- Strong mechanical aptitude with working knowledge of electro-mechanical assemblies and interpreting technical drawings or specifications.
- Proficiency with 3D CAD software (Inventor, Creo, SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or equivalent).
- Hands-on familiarity with shop tools, machining, and assembly operations.
- Demonstrated experience in improving manufacturing processes and implementing best practices.
- Ability to travel up to 5%.
- Knowledge of Lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Experience with mechanical assembly, machining, welding, and casting operations.
- Understanding of NC machining, tooling design, and fixture development.
- Lean / Six Sigma Green or Black Belt certification.
- Proficiency in GD&T, root cause analysis, and corrective action investigations.
- Skilled at documenting and capturing tribal knowledge into standardized work instructions.
- Self-motivated and able to work independently or within cross-functional teams.
