Job Description
Job title: Medical Office Assistant
Job location: New York, NY 10003
Shift: Monday through Friday, 9 to 5.
Length: 3 months, Possible Extension
Education:
High School Diploma/GED.
Skills:
3 years of experience working as a medical assistant. • Some relevant medical office/phlebotomy experience is desirable • Certification as a Medical Assistant from an approved school • MS Office Suite - Basic • Ability to communicate effectively with multicult
Duties:
Assist with patient care tasks (venipuncture, EKGs, vitals, patient flow, exam preparation, specimen collection and testing).
Support physicians during procedures and relay instructions to patients and families.
Handle clerical tasks (medical records, lab/x-ray reports, referrals, forms, chart management in EMR or manually).
Enter orders in EMR and prepare prescription refill requests for physician approval.
Inventory, restock, and check expiration dates on medical supplies and medications.
Set up exam rooms and equipment following proper sterilization and infection-control standards.
Maintain required logs (refrigeration, testing, sterilization, crash cart, etc.).
Follow safety procedures and PPE requirements.
Maintain and file medical charts and documents.
May schedule surgeries/procedures, prepare charts, and handle pre-admissions and consent forms.
May perform phlebotomy.
May schedule appointments, register patients, and update demographic/insurance details.
May verify insurance and complete pre-certifications.
