Project Overview The Center for Dissemination and Implementation Science (CDIS) within the Department of Medicine at UIC is seeking a graduate research assistant to support an NIH-funded study that addresses health disparities in sexual and reproductive health practices among Latina teens (14‑18 years old). The study will deliver the Floreciendo sexual and reproductive health program to Latina teens and their female caregivers through a pilot randomized optimization trial. Workshops occur on community partner weekends, and a community advisory board guides all research aspects.
Position Summary The Graduate Research Assistant will administer questionnaires and feedback forms to study participants in English and Spanish, assist with workshop logistics, contribute to data entry, management, and analysis, and perform administrative tasks such as IRB submissions and meeting notes. The role is 10 hours per week.
Duties & Responsibilities
Consenting study participants in English and Spanish
Administering questionnaires and feedback forms in English and Spanish
Conducting STI testing among teen participants (training provided)
Assisting with workshop logistics as needed
Observing workshops
Contributing to data entry, management, and analysis
Contributing to the activities of the community advisory board
Performing administrative tasks such as contributing to IRB submissions and taking meeting notes
Performing other related duties and participating in special projects as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
Bilingual in English and Spanish
Currently enrolled in a master’s or doctoral program in public health, social work, psychiatry, or another related social science field
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Strong organizational skills
Must be available to travel to community partner organizations throughout the Chicagoland area on weekends (primarily Saturdays)
Preferred Qualifications
Research experience with Latino teens and/or families
Experience with REDCap and/or MAXQDA
