Location: Montgomery County, Mississippi
Position: Full-Time | Executive Leadership
About the Role
The Economic Development Partnership of Montgomery County, Mississippi, is seeking a dynamic and visionary Director of Economic Development to lead countywide efforts in promoting economic growth, job creation, and community advancement. This role requires a highly motivated professional with a proven record of fostering business development, building strategic partnerships, and driving long-term economic initiatives.
The Director will serve as the primary representative of Montgomery County’s economic development activities, working collaboratively with local government, businesses, regional partners, and state agencies to attract, retain, and expand economic opportunities.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership: Develop and implement a comprehensive economic development strategy aligned with the county’s goals.
Business Recruitment & Retention: Attract new industries, support local entrepreneurs, and strengthen existing businesses.
Community Engagement: Serve as the face of the Partnership, cultivating strong relationships with stakeholders, investors, and residents.
Workforce Development: Collaborate with schools, colleges, and training providers to ensure a skilled workforce that meets employer needs.
Project Management: Oversee site development, infrastructure initiatives, and incentive programs to support growth.
Advocacy & Promotion: Represent Montgomery County at regional and state levels, promoting the county as a competitive place to live, work, and invest.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Public Administration, Economic Development, or related field (Master’s preferred).
Leadership experience in economic development, business development, or related field.
Strong understanding of economic development tools, incentives, and policies.
Exceptional communication, relationship-building, and public speaking skills.
Proven ability to manage budgets, secure funding, and lead projects to completion.
Preferred Attributes
Familiarity with Mississippi’s economic and business landscape.
Experience working with local, state, and federal agencies.
Certification in Economic Development (CEcD) or related credential.
