Position Description Harvard Divinity School seeks to appoint an adjunct instructor/lecturer for one course in elementary Coptic during the spring semester 2026. This course, which is the second semester of the first year of Elementary Coptic at the College/University-level, will be a continuation of the fall semester and cultivate a foundational reading knowledge of Coptic vocabulary and grammar, equipping students sufficiently to begin engagement with Coptic-language texts and preparing them to thrive in the intermediate study of the language. The course must be open and accessible to the Divinity School’s multi-religious student body. The appointment title will depend on the finalist’s qualifications.

Basic Qualifications

Completed advanced degree (PhD or ABD candidates preferred)

Prior experience teaching at the graduate level

Sensibility to a multi-religious student body.

Publications in the field are desirable, though not required.
