Job Description The Senior Accountant II is responsible for applying accounting principles to analyze financial information and prepare accurate financial reports. This role reports to the Director of Accounting and oversees accounting operations within assigned areas, including the supervision of junior and staff accountants as applicable. Key responsibilities include preparing financial statements, developing advanced spreadsheets to support summary reports, resolving complex accounting issues, and participating in special projects as needed. The Senior Accountant II must be able to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously, meet tight deadlines, and ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial data.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Timely and accurate recording of all advanced entries in accordance with the corporate closing schedule

Review and analyze financial results for assigned areas in support of month end close

Communicate financial results and variance analysis to Management as assigned

Timely and accurate review of balance sheet reconciliations and month end schedules

Approve resolution relating to reconciling items

Review external audit work papers

Approve budgets for Senior management

Approve staff entries

Identify and develop process improvements

Financial reporting writing

General understanding of GAAP principles

Carry out any reasonable request by management that employee is capable of performing

Qualifications

Bachelors degree in Accounting or Finance required (Accounting strongly preferred)

Minimum of 8+ years relative experience in F&B / Retail accounting

Minimum of 3-5 years relative experience in a month end close general ledger environment

Hotel Accounting experience preferred but not required

Experienced in F&B / Retail accounting, auditing, financial reporting, internal controls, processes, analysis, and metrics

Experienced creating advanced spreadsheets to support summary reports and resolving problems

Must be able to perform multiple tasks and projects simultaneously and manage many tasks in a short period of time

Strong knowledge of various accounting software and point of sale software

Advanced skills in Excel (pivot tables and formulas), Word, Outlook

Detail oriented, proficient in time management, able to organize multi tasks and ability to prioritize, delegate, manage workload to meet deadlines

Strong analytical and organizational skills

Excellent communication skills, both written and oral

Ability to develop strong working relationships with cross-functional partners and support a growing and dynamic finance department

Ability to work independently and in a group environment. Be a flexible team player who can carry out any reasonable request by management

Must be able to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions

Ability to make sound judgments and solve problems

Ability to read, analyze and interpret technical procedures in English

Ability to write procedure manuals

Travel to resorts may be required at times

Ability to take initiative and effectively adapt to changes

Ability to work overtime to assist financial reporting department deadlines if needed

Additional Information Language Skills Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals or technical procedures. Ability to write business correspondence and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from a group of managers. Foreign languages a plus.

Mathematical Skills Advanced mathematical skills to include strong computer formula writing and creation of macros; complete understanding of financial accounting.

Reasoning Ability Must be able to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
