Location: Remote (EST working hours preferred)

Overview An Insurance company is seeking a Business Analyst to support its transition from a legacy underwriting workflow platform to a next-generation underwriting system.

This role will focus on analyzing, documenting, and visualizing current-state business workflows and their associated technical tasks within the legacy system. The Business Analyst will prioritize documenting workflows and business processes that are not yet completed or fully implemented, followed by those that are currently in production.

The resulting documentation will form a critical bridge between business operations and technical implementation, ensuring that each process is clearly aligned with its supporting system functionality and ready for migration.

Responsibilities

Partner with Underwriting & IT teams to analyze and document current-state business workflows.

Prioritize discovery and documentation efforts for business processes that are in-progress, partially implemented, or pending completion, followed by fully established workflows.

Develop visual process maps that represent both business workflows, calling out the technical components related to each workflow.

Align current technical functions, automations, and data flows with their corresponding business processes to ensure clarity and traceability.

Produce detailed workflow documentation packages, including:

Step-by-step process descriptions and business logic

Roles, responsibilities, and decision points

Data inputs, outputs, and system dependencies

Associated technical tasks or components supporting each process

Present findings and visual materials to stakeholders for review and sign-off.

The Business Analyst will deliver:

Comprehensive documentation of business workflows and associated technical tasks, prioritized by:

Workflows and processes not yet completed or fully implemented

Followed by those currently completed and in production

Visual process flow diagrams illustrating both business and technical perspectives.

A traceability matrix linking each workflow to its supporting technical components.

Qualifications

Demonstrated ability to map, document, and prioritize complex business and

Experience working on system modernization or migration projects.

Skilled with process mapping tools such as Visio, Lucidchart, or Miro.

Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.

Proven ability to work independently and manage deliverables within tight timelines.
