Overview

Job Title: Assistant, Lab, Air Conditioning, Heating, Refrigeration Technology, Part-time (Temporary)

Employer: Guilford Technical Community College

Position type: Part-time, temporary, up to 25 hours/week.

Location: Greensboro campus, with responsibilities in the HVACR laboratory operations under the direction of the Department Chair and area faculty.

Responsibilities

  • Organize HVACR lab areas and equipment stations.
  • Maintain HVACR stations, tool maintenance, and tool organization.
  • Coordinate with the full-time Instructor or Lab Coordinator to receive supplies from local vendors and deliver them onsite; ensure items are stored as directed upon delivery.
  • Collaborate with other construction trade departments, AA, and the dean to maintain the Greensboro campus.
  • Demonstrate and model the College's employability skills: adaptability, communication, information processing, problem solving, responsibility, and teamwork.

Challenges

  • Work is typically performed in an HVACR shop environment.
  • Work may occur outdoors in moderate to extreme temperatures.

Qualifications

Education Required

  • High School Diploma

Education Preferred

  • Diploma or Associate's degree in Air Conditioning, Heating, and Refrigeration Technology

Experience

Experience Required

  • Experience in organization of workplace.
  • Experience in inventory control.

Experience Preferred

  • 1-year shop experience in HVACR environment.
  • Experience with HVACR tools.

KSA

KSA Required

  • Knowledge of Air Conditioning, Heating, and Refrigeration tools.
  • Skills with HVACR lab equipment.
  • Microsoft 365

KSA Preferred

  • On-campus professional conduct per HVACR program handbook.
  • Self-starter work ethic; reliable attendance and punctuality.

  • Perform safety and security watch at all times
  • Inform instructors of safety violations and issues

Required Training

The following compliance trainings must be completed within the first 30 days of hire, with annual refreshers thereafter:

  • Ethics
  • Safety/Shooter on Campus
  • Personal Information Protection Training (PIP)
  • Anti-Discrimination/Harassment & Title IX
  • Other training may be required as applicable

Physical Demands

  • Physical Activity: Long periods of standing and/or walking
  • Environmental Hazard(s): Less than 15%
  • Lifting: Up to 50 lbs
