The Team

The American Girl Retail team provides lifetime memories to fans and families. In-store experiences vary by location and can include Girl and Doll Salons, Full-Service Restaurants, Personal Shopping, Ear Piercing (Girl and Doll), hosting Parties/Celebrations, and more. This is a dynamic, fast-paced role with decision-making impact.

The Opportunity

The Sr. Salon Stylist is located at the AG Retail Chicago location and reports to the Sales Manager. This position delivers Girl Hair Salon services and adapts to changing business needs.

Responsibilities

• Provide girl and doll salon services to deliver a high-level experience at American Girl.
• Perform a broad range of styles for various hair lengths, types, and textures. Communicate effectively and learn product and service knowledge to meet guest needs.
• Answer guest questions, assist customers, style hair according to company standards, resolve issues, manage salon supplies, stock and clean the workspace, sanitize, and communicate needs to management.
• Training and certification for ear piercing services; follow procedure checklist, complete waivers, and review After Care with guests.
• Support day-to-day activity in reservations system, inventory, guest traffic/appointments, troubleshoot issues, and manage daily operations.

Qualifications

• Valid Cosmetology license for hair and nails in the practicing state.
• Ability to style hair in various styles and perform nail services.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience as a hair stylist.
• Flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• High energy, fast-paced service environment experience, and passion for quality.
• Organizational skills, inventory management, adaptability, and professional relationship skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication; strong organizational skills.
• Proficient computer skills; experienced with Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word).
• Experience working with children preferred.

Compensation

Hourly: The base hourly rate is between $19 and $22.80. This range reflects a projected hiring range; final rate depends on location, skills, and experience. Mattel offers competitive total pay programs, benefits, and resources to help employees reach their potential.
