Job Summary

Regularly performs the full range and scope of housekeeping services at a Navy Gateway Inn and Suites and/or Navy Lodge property including but not limited to cleaning guest rooms interior public spaces storage areas laundry rooms exterior spaces, etc. These services include but are not limited to vacuuming, mopping, dusting, scrubbing, washing, moving items, polishing, cleaning, removal of debris, trash, transporting clean and dirty linen/towels, etc. Uses hand and powered cleaning equipment in connection with performing duties.

Responsibilities

• Cleans guest rooms and other assigned areas.
• Operates cleaning equipment (e.g., vacuum cleaner, carpet cleaner, waxer, polisher).
• Empties wastebaskets, dusts, waxes and polishes room furniture.
• Cleans walls, partitions, air vents; disinfects and deodorizes toilet bowls, lavatories, etc.
• Washes walls, cleans window treatments, ceiling fixtures; changes light bulbs and room partitions using ladders and scaffolds.
• Moves furniture to clean under and behind; uses step stool to clean windows, window treatments, cabinet tops, mirrors and picture frames.
• Cleans bathrooms and kitchens, including appliances, floors, and surfaces; washes and disinfects dishes, utensils, and cookware.
• Prepares and maintains cleanliness of storage rooms; ensures proper functionality of luggage racks and hangers.
• Ensures TVs, alarms, phones and related devices are clean and properly programmed; replaces batteries as needed.
• Provides amenities in rooms as required; replaces bed linen; inspects mattresses and pull-out sofas; moves beds as requested.
• Greets and welcomes guests; maintains outstanding guest relations; ensures privacy and security of guests.
• Clean vacuums, mops, corridors, stairways, guest laundry, patios and balconies; shampoos rugs and carpets; completes scheduled carpet cleaning with appropriate equipment.
• Performs deep cleaning as required by program standards (e.g., pet-friendly rooms, ADA service animal rooms) including defrosting refrigerators, cleaning windows, carpet cleaning, and wall cleaning.
• Maintains cleanliness and order of storage rooms; communicates status of cleaned rooms to supervisor.
• Performs minor repairs and reports major repairs to supervisor; assists with loading/unloading supplies and moving heavy items as needed.
• May be required to obtain and maintain NHG housekeeping certification and other certifications; may travel to other lodging facilities if required.

Qualifications

• No experience required
• High School graduate or equivalent preferred
• Physical requirements: moderate physical effort; ability to move furniture and operate cleaning equipment
