Job Overview

RWJ Barnabas Health is looking for a talented, passionate individual for the Associate role within the Rutgers Athletic Department in New Brunswick, NJ. This full-time position serves as Sports Health Technician with Rutgers University Department of Intercollegiate Athletics to assist with daily coordination of the university's overall sports health program through non-patient facing athletics health care administration. The successful candidate will provide services to the university's intercollegiate athletic population under the supervision of the Assistant Director of Athletic Training Services, in consultation with the Director of Athletic Training Services, Chief Medical Officer, Team Physicians, and other qualified medical personnel.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor s Degree in a health and wellness field of study
  • CPR/AED certification through AHA, or successful completion prior to start date
  • Valid driver's license and satisfactory driving record
  • Experience managing multiple tasks while working proficiently under pressure
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with efficiency and effectiveness
  • Commitment to maintain confidentiality and discretion in managing personal health information
  • Ability to routinely lift equipment and supplies, up to 50 pounds

Scheduling Requirements

  • Non-traditional working hours, holidays, evenings, and weekends required
  • Full-Time Schedule · 40 hours weekly
  • Travel required during specific periods based on competition schedules

Essential Functions

  • Attend scheduled team practices as directed by supervisor
  • Provide first aid and emergency medical care to student athletes through accepted medical standards
  • Provide support to staff physical therapists and athletic trainers during rehabilitative services under supervision
  • Assist with coordination and scheduling of physical examinations and medical referrals to determine student-athlete eligibility
  • Educate players, coaches, and staff on injury prevention strategies
  • Assist with medical records management for University student-athletes
  • Maintain supply inventory in athletic training facilities and address procurement needs
  • Present relevant information to coaches, academic support, health service providers, and athletes clearly and discretely
  • Other duties as assigned
