Overview
SharePoint Online Migration Administrator
Responsibilities
- Plan and execute migrations from SharePoint 2016 (on-premises) to SharePoint Online and other Microsoft 365 platforms.
- Assess current environment by running pre-migration reports to analyze content, usage, workflows, permissions, and customizations.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements, document business processes, and design migration strategy.
- Develop and document migration plans, including information architecture, taxonomy, timelines, and testing procedures.
- Utilize migration tools (e.g., SPMT, Metalogix) to transfer sites, lists, files, and workflows to SharePoint Online, Teams, and OneDrive.
- Provision new sites, configure permissions, and manage administrative settings during migration.
- Conduct post-migration analysis, run reports, and remediates errors or issues.
- Perform quality assurance (QA) and user acceptance testing (UAT) to validate data integrity and functionality.
- Support end-users through training, documentation, and troubleshooting.
- Assist in developing and enforcing SharePoint governance models and best practices.
- Guide site owners in data preparation, cleansing, and content standardization.
- Coordinate and resolve complex migration issues or incidents and provide recommendations for technical standards.
- Assist in disaster recovery planning relevant to SharePoint platforms.
- Manage user access and permissions in SharePoint Online.
- Meet professional expectations: attend meetings, adhere to schedules and dress codes, provide excellent customer service, and communicate effectively.
- Demonstrate adaptability and initiative in a dynamic environment with multiple priorities.
Minimum Qualifications
- 4+ years SharePoint administration experience (site collections, permissions, features).
- 4+ years hands-on experience with migration tools (e.g., Metalogix, SPMT).
- 4+ years proficiency with Microsoft 365 applications (Teams, OneDrive, Power Automate, Power Apps).
- 4+ years scripting/automation experience (especially PowerShell).
Preferred Qualifications
- 6+ years in the above areas.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Experience with data analysis/reporting tools (Excel, Power BI).
- Excellent communication and documentation skills.
- Familiarity with Agile/Waterfall project methodologies.
