Overview

The position focuses on delivering fast, friendly service by assessing customer needs and assisting with products to support sales across departments including Building Materials, Décor, Electrical, Flooring, Garden, Hardware, Kitchen & Bath, Lumber, Millwork, Paint, Plumbing and Tool Rental. Associates learn how to greet, qualify, recommend and close every customer in their department, and how to handle basics in adjacent departments. They maintain the in-stock condition of assigned areas, ensure it is clean, shop-able, and safe. Each associate follows safety policies and standards, completes required safety training, immediately corrects hazards or reports conditions to the Manager on Duty, and works safely to avoid endangering themselves, co-workers, vendors, or customers. They cooperate with their Department Supervisor and other department associates across departments.

Specific store departments may include Building Materials, Décor, Electrical, Flooring, Garden, Hardware, Kitchen & Bath, Lumber, Millwork, Paint, Plumbing and Tool Rental.

The Customer Service/Sales position types may include Department Sales, Lead Generator, Pro Account Sales, Sales Specialist, Special Services, and Customer Order Specialist.

Responsibilities

• Provide fast, friendly service; actively seek out customers to assess needs and provide assistance.
• Learn about products using company tools and provide information to customers to support selling an entire project.
• Greet, qualify, recommend, and close every customer in their department; assist in adjacent departments as needed.
• Maintain in-stock conditions and ensure areas are clean, shop-able, and safe.
• Follow safety policies and standards; complete safety training; immediately correct hazards or report conditions to the Manager on Duty; work safely to avoid endangering themselves, co-workers, vendors, or customers.
• Collaborate with the Department Supervisor, other department associates, and cross-department teams.
• Support store departments which may include Building Materials, Décor, Electrical, Flooring, Garden, Hardware, Kitchen & Bath, Lumber, Millwork, Paint, Plumbing and Tool Rental.
• Understand that positions may include Department Sales, Lead Generator, Pro Account Sales, Sales Specialist, Special Services, and Customer Order Specialist.
