A law firm seeks an Insurance Defense Associate Attorney to join its casualty practice in Charlotte, North Carolina. The successful candidate will manage a diverse docket of insurance coverage and liability matters, providing strategic defense services for insurers and insured clients.
Duties
Manage all phases of insurance defense litigation, including pleadings, motions, and discovery. Conduct factual and legal research; draft memoranda on liability, coverage, and procedural issues. Prepare for and attend depositions, mediations, and court hearings. Collaborate with adjusters, experts, and senior attorneys to develop case strategy. Monitor and adhere to statute of limitations, court deadlines, and jurisdictional requirements. Maintain organized case files and communicate status updates to stakeholders. Requirements
2 years of civil litigation experience, with a focus on insurance defense or related fields. Active license to practice law in North Carolina. Familiarity with North Carolina Rules of Civil Procedure and state insurance statutes. Strong legal research, writing, and analytical capabilities. Effective oral advocacy and client communication skills. Ability to manage a high volume caseload and meet critical deadlines. Education
Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an ABA accredited law school. Certifications
Admission to the North Carolina State Bar. Skills
Proficiency with legal research platforms (e.g., Westlaw, LexisNexis) and electronic filing systems. Expertise in drafting pleadings, motions, and discovery requests. Strong negotiation skills for mediations and settlement discussions. Excellent organizational and time management abilities. Effective teamwork and interpersonal communication.
