Responsible performing supervisory and administrative tasks in developing, implementing, and managing systems and programs designed to effectively maintain a safe and secure environment for students, employees, and visitors. Develop, establish, and enforce safety and security policies, access control procedures, risk management efforts, fire, safety, emergency management, asset protection efforts, and traffic enforcement programs. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :

Coordinates a comprehensive security/school safety program, policies and procedures by studying organization operations and schedules; establishing internal controls; conducting inspections as appropriate; reporting potential hazards and risks to appropriate departments; evaluating and making recommendations for District and Board policies, creating and updating Standard Operating Procedures, safety and security manuals. Coordinates school safety compliance with federal, state and local regulations by studying existing and new requirements and overseeing and enforcing school-wide adherence to requirements. Conducts and coordinates safety, security and emergency preparedness training by developing, scheduling and/or facilitating training for staff, students and public safety officials relating to school safety, security and emergency Oversees various safety software implementations, training, and reporting. Ensures effective process and workflow management within these systems. Serves as a liaison with local law enforcement and fire Working directly with local law enforcement agencies during critical incident situations and follow-up. Is aware of criminal activity trends within the region. Responds to real time reports of safety/security concerns for the district. The ability to work outside of normal working hours is at times necessary to meet this requirement. Acts as point contact with law enforcement, County Office of Emergency Management, City Officials, Director of Transportation, COO, Superintendent, and other various agencies to assist in determining safe passageway for buses during inclement weather days. Assists in the development and implementation of security plans for special Coordinates with site-based administrators and Facilities Departments to address and correct safety/security issues on school campuses. Maintains statistics regarding criminal activities on school campuses. Trains, supervises, and evaluates the school/district-based security Seeks input from the building principals on the evaluation of the school-based security staff. Conducts safety and security assessments of all District Update Emergency Procedures of all district sites as needed. Evaluates site requests for security support and or Coordinates with other departments for the installation of security and safety related items. Manages the district safety teams while supporting school administrator's needs. Supports the Student Support Services team, as needed, for individual threat assessments. Leads the identification of, communication about, and management of district-wide risk. Identifies potential exposure and recommends solutions. Manages insurance procurement, renewal, claims and litigation with input from COO and General Counsel as needed. Evaluates and provides recommendations regarding selection of insurance policies, including but not limited to: Property, Casualty, General Liability, and Directors and Officers. Fosters relationships with third party providers. Partners with key stakeholders to implement risk management and compliance policies/procedures. Partners with all departments regarding incident reports and claims or losses. Provides timely notification of claims to insurance carriers. Manages budget, approves purchases, and negotiates appropriate vendor contracts for security and risk Performs other duties as assigned. EDUCATION AND TRAINING: Bachelor’s degree in related field OR equivalent of advanced training in emergency management, safety/security and risk management or a minimum of three years of equivalent experience in emergency management, safety/security and risk management. EXPERIENCE: 3-5 years of progressive professional experience in emergency management and/or risk management. 3-5 years serving in a similar leadership role is preferred. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, & REGISTRATIONS : Must hold/must be able to secure within the first 90 days of hire current certification(s) in Emergency Management from FEMA (minimally, ICS100C and IS362 Multi-Hazard). Must possess a valid driver’s license. Advanced knowledge of the Incident Command Ability to train, plan, implement, and monitor school and district use of ICS, FEMA, and state and federal guidelines regarding school safety and security, and emergency crisis prevention, intervention, management, and response. Knowledge of MSDS chemical safety Knowledge of school Ability to maintain confidentiality in all aspects of the Ability to manage multiple tasks/priorities with frequent Ability to promote and follow Board of Education and District policies, Superintendent policies and building/ department procedures. Ability to communicate, interact and work effectively and cooperatively in a team Ability to recognize the importance of safety in the workplace, follow safety rules, practice safe work habits, utilize appropriate safety equipment and report unsafe conditions to the appropriate administrator.
