To better support our Accounting Department and the anticipated doubling of our portfolio over the next few years, Westcore is looking for a well rounded
Senior Corporate Accountant .
POSITION SUMMARY
The Senior Corporate Accountant is responsible for corporate accounting functions including the preparation of accounting for all transactions within legal entities assigned, ensuring all transactions are recorded in accordance with current GAAP, as well as within company policies and procedures; and the treasury function including cash management, bank account maintenance, wires, and recording the daily cash transactions.
CORE ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES: Monthly preparation of financial statements, supporting documentation, detail general ledger, balance sheet analyses, journal entries, overhead allocations, bank reconciliations and other supporting schedules/reconciliations. Daily cash management. Assist with maintenance of all managed bank accounts, including the completion of new account forms.
PRIMARY DUTIES:
(The below list is not comprehensive, and priorities will change on a day to day basis) Responsible for the reconciliation and accuracy of timely invoice processing and payment for all types of internal (management fees) and external vendors. Preparation and review of various reports included in monthly close package, including analysis of project level variances arising from comparisons of actual results to prior month, forecasts, and annual business plan data. Prepare and post monthly journal entries in accordance with GAAP, tax and/or other approved basis of accounting while analyzing monthly balances and preparing support reconciliations for management review. Responsible for the monitoring of various reconciliations and balances using multi-general ledgers (e.g., GAAP, tax and/or fair market value, etc.) Post accounts receivable in a timely manner and reconcile cash with general ledger balances. Post cash transfers required for the completion of the financing, cash receipts, accounts payable, equity, and intercompany accounting transactions. Review and approve invoices in paperless processing system for assigned entities. Assist with coordinating multiple audits of company financial statements and annual internal budgeting processes. Assist in the evaluation, establishment, and implementation of processes, policies and procedures to improve overall efficiency of the accounting department and other associated groups within office. Responsible for assigned project-level internal and external ad-hoc reporting deliverables on a monthly, quarterly, or annual basis (municipality taxes, cash flow analysis, financings, compliance, etc.) ensuring all deliverables are accurate, timely, and within company policy. Initiate wires and intra-book transfers via cash management banking systems and other bank-specific procedures. Review check registers against available cash balances to subsequently approve check runs. Post daily cash transactions. Prepare internal cash flow forecasting information to ensure activity is properly reported. Review monthly bank fees for accuracy and periodically analyze for cost effectiveness.
DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE: Bachelor's degree in accounting or economics required. CPA license preferred. Two (2) to three (3) years of financial accounting and reporting experience. Real estate accounting experience preferred. Extensive working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). Experience with Yardi (or equivalent mid- to large- tier ERP System) preferred. Understanding of policy and procedure implementation and internal control documentation.
