Job Focus Area At the Louisiana Department of Education’s Division of Research and Data Privacy, our vision is to ensure the agency upholds the highest standards of data privacy through a comprehensive policy framework and robust standard operating procedures that protect the data of all Louisiana students.

Reporting to the Director of Research and Data Privacy, this position will lead the ongoing development, coordination, and implementation of agency data privacy policies and procedures to safeguard all data assets. Responsibilities include coordinating agency-wide privacy trainings, overseeing the maintenance of employee confidentiality agreements, tracking system access documentation for all staff, and conducting regular reviews of employee data access. This role will also collaborate with school system security coordinators to facilitate appropriate system access.

We're looking for a self-motivated, detail-oriented professional with strong project management skills, a strategic mindset, and the ability to work independently while navigating complex data privacy and governance issues.

Preferred Experience: Knowledge and expertise in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.), Google Suite (Google Docs, Google Sheets, etc.) and Jotform.

A bachelor’s degree plus seven years of experience in education, administrative services, web development, or graphic design; OR

A master's degree plus five years of experience in education, administrative services, web development, or graphic design; OR

Job Duties: As an Education Technology Senior Consultant, you will support the agency in all things related to data privacy. In this role, you will: Oversee data privacy trainings, approve applications, and ensure compliance with state and federal data privacy requirements Monitor public facing data privacy mailbox, triage incoming requests to appropriate teams Track and monitor data system access requests Track and monitor staff’s bi-annual data privacy training Continuously utilize uniform standard operating procedures for all areas of work to include timelines, processes and procedures, important links, persons responsible and a process for tracking progress through completion. Create clear and concise directions and guides for system access Streamline onboarding and offboarding data privacy and access process for agency staff and contractors

Appointment Type:

Probational, Promotional, or Job Appointment. The person hired for this position is expected to regularly report to the Baton Rouge office.

Current permanent classified state employees may be required to accept a probationary appointment, if selected. Career Progression:

This position does not participate in a Career Progression Group. Work Schedule: Work hours are Monday - Friday. Work hours will be determined. Compensation:

The Educational Technology Senior Consultant series have a special entrance rate of $36.90/hour that is above the minimum hire rate for these positions. The maximum amounts listed are the maximum salary amounts a person can make over their career and not
