About the role
As theFrontend Tech Lead at Augment Code, you'll help lead the design and implementation of user-facing experiences across our suite of developer toolsbeginning with IDE integrations. Youll drive critical architectural and technical decisions, guide a small team of engineers, and work in close partnership with design, AI research, and backend systems teams to shape the future of Augments AI-powered developer experience. What you'll do:
Help lead the frontend architecture and implementation of Augment's IDE extensions and developer tools, from design through deployment. Collaborate cross-functionally with designers, AI researchers, and backend engineers to build deeply integrated and performant user interfaces. Drive UI/UX decisions based on developer workflows and feedback, ensuring our tools feel cohesive and intuitive. Collaborate with a team of AI Researchers and Systems Engineers to craft the technical direction of the Augment system Mentor engineers on frontend and integration work, and help scale the teams technical capabilities. Help shape product direction, contributing to prioritization and planning of new features and user workflows. What we're looking for:
7+ years of experience in frontend software development, with at least 12 years in a technical leadership or staff+ role Expertise in modern frontend frameworks and languages (e.g., TypeScript, React, Svelte, Kotlin, Java, or similar) Experience building and shipping IDE plugins, devtools, or complex user-facing systems Strong product sense and ability to translate user needs into elegant, performant interfaces Track record of cross-functional collaboration across design, product, and backend Comfort working in fast-moving, ambiguous environmentsand helping others do the same Employee Benefits:
