Department Position Summary
The Hospitalist Department Associate is responsible for clerical and administrative duties within the Hospitalist Department, including creating patient lists, clerical support to physicians and department, and maintaining department files.
Essential Functions And Responsibilities Include
Understands and adheres to the WPH Performance Standards, Policies and Behaviors.
Primarily responsible for the creation and distribution of the daily patient list for Adult Hospitalists census (morning process).
Provide daily support to the Adult and Pediatric Hospitalist physicians and nurse practitioners.
Provide exceptional oral, written and electronic communications including maintenance of electronic files.
Provide exceptional customer service.
Assist with on-boarding and training of new clerical team members and provide coverage for team members during periods of absence.
Act as a liaison for billing, reconciliation and attestation issues.
Process check Requests & Purchase Orders.
Maintain office supplies and all office equipment, phones, chargers, etc.
Process incoming mail.
Perform errands as needed on the hospital grounds.
Performs all other related duties as assigned.
Education & Experience Requirements
High School Diploma; Some college preferred
Working knowledge of medical terms required
Two years customer service experience required
Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, specifically Word and Excel required

Demands/Requirements & Work Environment
May be exposed to chemicals necessary to perform required tasks. Any hazardous chemicals the employee may be exposed to are listed in the hospital’s SDS (Safety Data Sheet) data base and may be accessed through the hospital’s Intranet site (Employee Tools/SDS Access). A copy of the SDS data base can also be found at the hospital switchboard, saved on a disc.
