The PMO Manager is a pivotal leadership role within the IT department, tasked with establishing and leading a high-performing Project Management Office (PMO) to drive strategic initiatives and operational excellence across the organization. The PMO Manager will champion the standardization and implementation of project management best practices across the credit union while actively managing projects.
Who YOU are:
Bachelor’s degree in business, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience; advanced degree a plus. PMP, PgMP, SAFe, or equivalent certification strongly preferred. 7+ years of project management experience, with 3+ years in a leadership or PMO role. Proven ability to manage both people and complex projects concurrently in a dynamic environment. Expertise in project management methodologies (Agile, Waterfall, or Hybrid) and proficiency in tools like MS Project or Jira. Experience in financial services, particularly within credit unions or banking, is a plus. Exceptional leadership, communication, stakeholder management, and change management skills, with a proven ability to influence and drive results in a matrixed environment. Proficiency in data analysis and reporting to support project performance monitoring and decision-making.
What YOU’LL do:
People Leadership
Lead, mentor, and develop project managers through coaching, tailored development plans, and training to build PMO capabilities and address skill gaps. Provide dotted-line leadership to project managers across various business lines, promoting collaboration and alignment with PMO standards. Develop and implement standardized frameworks, templates, and best practices for project management, ensuring scalability and adaptability across organizational and departmental projects. Drive change management initiatives to ensure adoption of standardized project management practices across diverse business units. Assess and allocate project management resources based on project size, complexity, and strategic priority. Set clear performance objectives, conduct regular check-ins, and perform quarterly performance reviews to drive accountability and results. Cultivate a collaborative, high-performance culture that emphasizes accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement.
Project and Portfolio Management
Oversee the end-to-end project lifecycle, from intake to delivery, ensuring alignment with business objectives, timelines, and budgets. Actively manage a portfolio of projects, taking a hands-on role in planning, execution, and delivery to meet strategic goals. Collaborate with business and technology leaders to prioritize initiatives based on strategic value, risk, and resource availability. Monitor and report project and program performance using KPIs, dashboards, and presentations to senior leadership. Leverage modern project management tools and data analytics to optimize project performance and provide actionable insights to stakeholders. Proactively identify project risks and implement effective mitigation strategies to ensure successful outcomes. Ensure all projects comply with regulatory requirements, security standards, and internal policies. Drive the adoption of project management best practices (e.g., Agile, Waterfall, or Hybrid methodologies) across the organization to enhance efficiency and consistency.
