Benefits Manager
to drive the end-to-end design, administration, and continuous improvement of our benefits programs. This role will serve as a subject matter expert in health, wellbeing, leave, and retirement benefits – ensuring compliance, building efficiency, and optimizing impact to both company and employees. You will partner cross-functionally to ensure our Total Rewards strategy serves a diverse, multi-state employee population across Corporate, Retail, and Fulfillment Centers. This role reports to the
Sr. Director, People Operations . What you will do: Administer and optimize all US employee benefit plans end-to-end (medical, dental, vision, life, disability, FSA, HSA, etc.) – ensuring plan accuracy, data integrity, and exceptional employee experience. Conduct data analysis and reporting to support benefits planning, benchmarking, vendor evaluations, and compliance (Form 5500, ACA, nondiscrimination testing, etc.) Partner with HR systems, payroll, and finance to ensure accurate benefit deductions, integrations, and reconciliations. Own annual open enrollment, planning, communications, systems testing, and implementation. Monitor and ensure full compliance with federal, state, and local regulations (ACA, HIPAA, ERISA, COBRA, FMLA/CFRA, state disability, worker’s comp, etc.), strategically tracking and driving compliance initiatives. Own and manage company leave of absence (LOA) and Worker’s Compensation programs from intake through return-to-work, collaborating with HR Business Partners, Legal, and third-party administrators. Identify and implement process improvements across benefits administration that improve operational efficiency and data integrity. Collaborate with brokers and benefits providers on renewals, audits, plan changes, and reporting. Provide clear recommendations and financial impact summaries to leadership. Craft employee-facing materials, newsletters, FAQs, and tools that enhance comprehension and drive engagement. Promote a Total Rewards mindset through enablement tools, trainings, and thoughtful communication strategies. Build strong rapport and relationships with key partners, including broader People team, payroll, legal, FP&A, and external service providers. What you can bring: 8+ years of experience in employee benefits administration. Deep expertise in U.S. benefits regulations and practices (ACA, ERISA, HIPAA, COBRA, FMLA/CFRA, state disability, workers’ comp laws, etc.). Hands-on experience owning and managing leave of absence (LOA) and worker’s compensation programs. Proven track record of driving compliance initiatives and process improvements in a multi‑state retail or distribution environment. Experience executing benefits tasks within HR Systems (preferably Workday). Analytical mindset with advanced Excel skills and the ability to turn data into insights. Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities with a positive attitude. Proactive problem-solver, offering solutions and process improvements with a no-ego, “no job is beneath me” attitude. Highly collaborative with exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills; able to collaborate and influence across all levels. Demonstrated ability to operate both strategically and tactically in a fast-paced, hands-on environment. Where we are: This role will be based in our El Segundo Headquarters.
