Job Description Job Summary: The Engineering Manager (EM) manages the entire engineering project manager team. They are expected to plan and execute projects to meet client expectations. This includes managing efforts from the internal team and third-party consultants and construction contractors. The Engineering Manager will oversee quality control, review designs, and maintain schedules and budgets. This position will gather and analyze data to estimate the amount of money, time, materials, and labor required to complete logistics/civil engineering and construction projects. This position will play a key role in developing bid and cost strategies and will be responsible for the complete estimating life cycle and taking projects through execution for themselves and their team. An ideal candidate will demonstrate leadership to a team and actively train their team. Possess effective communication skills and the ability to manage and fully comprehend construction documents in AutoCAD Civil 3D with specific experience in construction document preparations including, but not limited to- site planning, grading, drainage, and erosion control. Supervisory Responsibilities: Engineering Project Management Team. Duties/Responsibilities: • Work with the Director of Engineering to assign projects to the engineering team to manage. • Manages and reviews all team member work prior to delivery to the customer. Provides effective and constructive feedback to the team. • Cost analysis, cost controls and reporting for Logistics/Civil Engineering projects. o Excellent knowledge of cost accounting. • Ensure team understands the project scope and define requirements for new project assignments. Work with commercial leader or Director of Engineering as necessary. • Prepare cost data for proposals and contract negotiations and support bid process for larger, more complex projects. • Organize, monitor, and control project costs in accordance with contractual requirements and Company procedures. • Provide financial reporting and trending data, as requested by the Director of Engineering. • Support the LPG team on the most complex/higher profile routing/government related issues which may arise, both on the Engineering Team as well as other facets of the company. o Some of these being urgent in nature. • Proactively advise management when forecasted costs exceed the approved budget. • Analyze cost metrics and perform risk analyses. • Communicate effectively with suppliers to ensure proposed scope of work is understood. • Manage consultants and contractors through project execution. • Interpolate and fully understand survey/LiDAR data and engineered designs. • Excellent knowledge of heavy haul logistics/civil engineering processes and materials. • Prepare/Review construction drawings for various transport projects. • On-site support on high-risk logistics projects. • Discuss and work with governing bodies (e.g. DOT and Counties). Excellent communication with DOT entities, private entities as needed, and customer representatives. • Excellent analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving skills. • Aptitude to succeed in fast-paced and deadline-oriented environment. • Manages complex projects effectively from proposal to close-out and follow all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). • Creates other SOPs on an as needed basis. • Portrays confidence when speaking to customers or presenting reports. • Strong knowledge of permitting and escorting requirements state by state. • Comprehensive understanding of internal team processes and project timelines with the goal of managing assigned projects from conception to delivery independently. • Ability to lead external facing calls and speak knowledgeably to projects assigned to them with suppliers and the customer. • Excellent knowledge of industry related information and technologies, including WTG components, trailer configurations, and OEM sourcing strategies. • Excellent knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office Suite or related software to formulate report documents for route feasibility studies. • Shows complete understanding in all drone related operations, including ability to configure, operate, and travel with the drone independently to support project requirements as needed. • Ability to travel. Travel is required 2-3 days per week approximately once per month. • Experience with AutoCAD. • Familiarity with ArcGIS and AutoTURN/Vehicle Tracking. Education and Experience: • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required. • 8-15 years of industry-related experience preferred. • Professional Engineer license preferred. Physical Requirements: • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. • Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds at times. • Must be able to rent vehicle for project related travel. • Must be able to access and navigate each department at the organization's facilities.
